At the end of March we had a chance to catch Young Empires play their first headline show in Toronto at the Drake Hotel. The band created an instant dance party with their contagious and welcoming songs belted out by Matthew Young, Jake Young and Aaron Young. Their matching last names, dance moves and clean live sound were a formidable combination that made it hard to believe that it was their first headline show. After WU LYF's post-midnight US debut at Glasslands Friday night, folks slipped into the venue next door, 285 Kent St., to catch the tail-end of a bill anchored by the band Friends.
