Some might be tempted to write-off Friends' campy pastiche as sardonic, but to do so would be to miss the point-Friends is a band that is about playing with stock musical tropes rather than a band that's poking fun at something. Sure, the slide-and-pop baseline in "I'm His Girl" is almost hilariously funky and this video seems to be mocking a certain time and place, but you never get the sense that Friends takes themselves too seriously. BBC Sound Of 2012 shortlistnominees Friends (nee aan ongooglebare bandnamen!) brengen hun heerlijke pop naar de Maida Vale Studios. De late-and-great John Peel mag er dan niet meer de plak zwaaien, de BBC radio 1-dj's hebben naast een afgrijselijk accent nog steeds een neus voor talent. My favorite Japanese band, formerly known as Friends , has changed their name to Teen Runnings due to the whatever Brooklyn band that took the name. Why Does Everybody Do is of the same ilk - that is, sublime reverb-pop - as all their previous jams under the name Friends. Succulent and sweet, the straightfoward riffs are like fuzzy waterfalls, chugging along in perfect accord with the reverbed-out 'ooh oohs' of the doo-wop-pop vocals. There are very few bands that I would actually describe as sexy. Friends is one of those bands, as is apparent with their song "I'm His Girl" . Simple, syncopated drum beats and a strong groovy bass line with a generally danceable sound makes for a VERY sexy tune. In a way, it reminds me a little of M.I.A. I hope you like it.
