It’s time again for Friday on My Mind , our weekly blog post where we look at videos centered around one common theme. This is a collaborative effort between KEXP and King 5 News. Easter is around the corner, so we are looking at songs about rabbits. So let's talk rabbit facts. A male rabbit is a buck, a female is a doe, and baby rabbits are called kit. A wild doe can give birth up to eight kits a year. As well, female hares are capable of conceiving a second litter of offspring while still pregnant [...]

Frightened Rabbit by Brian Lowe When Pedestrian Verse made its way to KCRW , Jason mentioned that it’s a record that will see a lot of “Best Of” lists by the end of the year. Here we are, halfway into March and still a long way to go, but that sentiment remains true. In their return to Morning Becomes Eclectic, right before embarking on tour, the brothers Hutchinson and the rest of the band from Scotland gave us plenty of reasons why their [...]

You know the drill - Download. Stream. Share. As always - we apologize ahead of time. 1) Mystic - Joshua James 2) Most Of The [...]

Jem Goulding Since their first single was released in June 2012, London post-punk foursome Savages have steadily become one of the most-talked about new bands in the UK on the backs of their ferocious live performances, the experience of which they sought to capture on the live I Am Here EP released last Fall. [And so the last of our five days at South by Southwest came to a close — getting wowed by baby bands, plowed by the crowds and, at the end, sipping a colored drink on a rooftop watching Smashing Pumpkins rage through a free show while Prince and Justin Timberlake played free shows only blocks away. Breaking some of the pre-set rules, seeing legends, and getting down to heavy metal brass tacks on the third day in Austin. The post SXSW 2013 : Friday appeared first on Treble: Music news, reviews, interviews and more .

Photos and words by Debi Del Grande "Scotland keeps me miserable and that's why I like it." Scott Hutchison (lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist and lyricist) expressed to the sold out crowd at The Fonda. Creating songs like Frightened Rabbit would be a little difficult living in sunny Los Angeles. The last time I saw them was at the same venue. Embarrassing as this may sound, the season finale of "Lost" was on. Hutchison remembered this strange circumstance, and thankfully fans weren't sitting home watching t.v. this time around. New songs from the latest Pedestrian Verse [...]

Then the days start getting lighter and longer and I wake up one morning feeling hopeful. That is what this mix is about- a bit of being broken and a bit of getting better.
