Tweet vaso link So after seeing The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo , with its awkward-yet-awesome title sequence featuring Trent Reznor and Atticus Finch reworking Immigrant Song, I thought back to my youthful obsession with Industrial music. Reznor was an integral figure in this phase of my early teenhood due to the importance of Nine Inch Nails on my musical development. The fact that NIN is central to my musical sensibility is not something that I readily admit. Deny it all I might, Industrial music [...]
German Industrial legends DIE KRUPPS have confirmed that they will be hitting the road in North America with fellow Industrial giants Front Line Assembly. This tour is in support of DIE KRUPPS' recent EP "Als Wären Wir Für Immer" and their forthcoming release "The Final Option + The Final Remixes" which will be released May [...]
Metropolis recording artists Front Line Assembly (FLA) are gearing up for a national tour, their first since 2007, to promote their critically-hailed new album "Improvised. Electronic. Device." "We always look forward to a US tour," says keyboardist Jeremy Inkel. "We consider North America our homeland, so to us, it's very important to represent ourselves as best as we can. In consideration, all our musical aspirations were born over here, this is where we got our start." Kicking off in Winnipeg on May 15th, FLA will be circling around the continent with Die Krupps and Cyanotic supporting. "We're quite [...]

Welcome to a new year of Cover Wars. I could think of no better cover tune for the occasion than this 1983 U2 classic. New Year's Day has quite the resume appearing in both Rolling Stone's and Pitchfork's Top 500 songs of all-time. We've got a good collection of covers this week, one of which was played just a couple of days ago, so enjoy and don't forget to vote at the bottom. The Contestants: Though this was not the first time The Dresden Dolls [...]

Truly exciting news for me! One of my favourite bands of the last decade are finally crawling out of the woodwork to release a new record. Swedish electronic pop/industrial powerhouse Covenant are primed to release what promises to be their best work yet called Modern Ruin . For those of you not in the know, this trio have been the most progressive EBM (Electronic Body Music) band going. While their peers concentrate solely on strictly rehashing Front 242 and Front Line Assembly and boring us to tears with rudimentary drum progressions and flat vocals that are devoid of any [...]
This installment in the Influenza series focuses on the lead-track from Conjure One's new release, Exilarch , following the song's timeline from inspiration to becoming a staple in Rhys Fulber's live set.

Around the Ripple office, Mrs Racer and I don't often agree on music. A dance music fan, she's one to lose herself in the repetitive, totally synthesized trance annoyance that causes me to want to drive pencils through my eardrums. Let's face it, I'm a rocker, not a clubber. But, that don't mean I don't like to dance. Heck, I can boogie just as good as the blue wind-up robot on my desk. I just need something with some meat to it. Some drive, some crunch and muscle. And for that perfect [...]

Long time, no post. For no reason, I wanted to hear some 90's stuff and I thought about Frontline Assembly and the excellent work under the "Intermix" name... so here's a "video" for my favorite track "Targeted." Earthquake today (Easter) was rather rolling rather than shaking. My very favorite female DJ and the woman who's opinion on music I hold in the highest regard has been very ill. I saw her in ICU and I am not really ready to comment further until we know more. I will say that [...]
So if you read my last post you probably figured out that I'm not a fan of Black Devil Doll. I stand by my comments about the movie, it is the worst, least entertaining movie I have ever seen, and the fact that anyone out there likes it kind of makes me feel bad about the human race. HOWEVER, I do agree with some of the comments made in that I kind of went too far with my "personal" attacks on the filmmakers. Wishing horrible things upon people isn't exactly a classy move on my part, [...]
An important notice I'm suddenly very popular. I know this because I got my first legal notice today. The offending post has been removed by Blogger and I'm worried now that more might face their wrath. Because of this my blog will moving to greener pastures very soon. I don't know exactly where yet, I'm probably just going to finally bite the bullet and set up LostTurntable.com since I do own the domain name. Should my blog vanish without a trace I would head there for updates. More information (including who the [...]
I'm having another industrial music wanna break everything I see kind of day, so stand back. I have some good synthpop I want to put up but I am totally not in the mood to discuss that stuff right now. The industrial marathon will come to a close when the administration at my school stops acting like a bunch of....shit, I swore I'd stop using the c-word. Revolting Cocks Beers, Steers & Queers (Drop Your Britches Mix) Beers, Steers & Queers (Take 'Em Right Off Mix) [...]
The era between 1988-89 marked a glorious time in industrial music. The genre had begun to make an imprint on the underground music scene during the late 70's and early 80's with bands such as Throbbing Gristle, Test Dept., Cabaret Voltaire, DAF and Einsturzende Neubaten . These artists set the template for the electronic aggression that came out of the mid to late 80's post-industrial movement. Industrial music began with minimalist roots that eventually evolved into a variety of more complex different sub-genres through the sophistication of technology and the merging of different ideas. [...]

"Herr Michael York, please rest your leonine face against my ample bosoms while I stare uncomfortably into space, ja? Oopsie, it seems the shoulder strap of my dress has slipped down past my creamy white shoulder!" However will our intrepid hero stop the Kaiser's latest superweapon, a ponderous behemoth filled with explosive hydrogen gas, powered by volatile aviation fuel, and whose surface is covered with highly combustible reflective paint? Front Line Assembly – Hydrogen (from Explosion , 2003) – One of my more cherished memories from high [...]
Front Line Assembly's US tour had been going rather well until earlier this week, when without warning, the band announced that the whole thing was being called. One of the main reasons appears to have been some dubious behaviour on the part of their tour bus company : The FLA drummer Adrian confirmed the news in a post on the Side-Line forum saying: "Digger international who handled the bus rental has fucked us. We were lied to since we were told we had a bus until july 6th. which was bullshit. They had [...]
