This is Portland's Becca; just 20 years old, her music is mature beyond her years and the ferocity of her rock is unquestioned. She'll be at SXSW and during the spring she'll even appear at some local high schools. Her new album, Alive!!, will be available on March 2. Excellent. Some bands have terrible names - the Buttless Chaps is probably the worst I have ever come across - but Fulton Read is probably my favourite. They played SXSW last March, and are generating a bit of hype. Great news is that they've made their new EP, Synchronize freely available to download from their website. In case you don't know what the name is about, he played #44 for the District 5 PeeWee hockey team. Google it! Download: www.fultonread.com

Free, creative commons piano rock from Austin's Fulton Read . But there's more to today's Daily Dose than just a title... Austin's Fulton Read are on a mission to promote the Creative Commons movement by offering all of their future music for free, a trend that's becoming increasingly popular among independent artists. (applause!) In a cleverly conceived promotion, they're releasing their newest EP "Synchronize" tomorrow, January 31st 2010. From the band: To help announce this new release, we've arranged a worldwide [...]

There's nothing like a power pop rock group featuring a full brass section. After hearing the catchy tunes of Texas group Driver F , this other Texas outfit, Fulton Read , seemed just as promising with their promises of lots of brass and catchy lyrics. Throw on top of that promise that their music is all free, they seemed like they had this music thing all figured out. However, Individualize, while getting a lot of stuff right, also gets a lot wrong, so it is lucky that the EP is free. The trumpet [...]

Rating: 3.4/5 The piano of Fulton Read only accounts for one of the many directions in sound the group can turn. As the center instrument behind the showcase of their rock-infused tune though, it is slowly gaining notoriety for the duo from The Woodlands, Texas. With their Indivisualize EP releasing to the public for free on November 19, the piano still plays to its lead position, but the addition of horns, electric guitars, drums and a chorus of vocals certainly help bring everything to [...]

Austin, Texas' Fulton Read will be releasing its third official release, Indivisualize, on November 19th. The band, comprised of founder Anthony Erickson (piano/vocals), Stephen Duffy (drums), Justin Von Kennel (guitar) and Ryan Gilmore (bass), has refined and made a good sound even better by mixing their unqiue brand of piano rock featuring "improv jams, funky breakdowns and trippy segues" with a multi-genre sound of rock, pop, jazz and even a little raggae. We've been able to sample several tracks from the release; the diversity of the music is so impressive it's hard to believe it's the same band throughout. Three [...]
