I just completed the last paper of my undergraduate career and, let me tell you, it's a pleasant feeling to have! Before I go out and have some fun of my own, my good friend Gus sent me a message reminding me of the band Fun . I had originally stumbled across the group a few months after The Format called it quits , since Fun was the new project of Format lead singer Nate Reuss and his friends. Frankly, the material they had initially put up on their [...]
Fun - "At Least I'm Not As Sad (As I Used to Be)" Fun = Nate Ruess (The Format), Jack Antonoff (Steel Train) and Adam Dost (Anathallo). Fun formed almost a year ago and are getting ready to release their debut album later this summer. It may sound cheesy, but their music really is Fun! I've had the chance to listen to the entire album and it's clear to see the band took their love of Queen, ELO and Jellyfish, and created an album made up of 70's rock injected with cheerful horns, [...]

At Least I'm Not As Sad (As I Used to Be) - Fun.mp3 If you're like me you're still a bit upset by The Format's breakup several months ago. Luckily for us lead singer Nate Ruess is still keeping on with his new band Fun. They just this new track off of their upcoming album, Aim and Ignite, a few hours ago. It's called "At Least I'm Not As Sad (As I Used To Be)" and it sounds like the kind of music a band [...]
You may remember way back in August that the now-disbanded Format's Nate Ruess started a new act with some friends, called it 'fun' , and recorded a pretty amazing little number in their garage. Since then we haven't heard too much from Nate & company. Until today. Nate says, in an email: "Yeah, I know... "it's about time"... but really... it took forever to make this record... and I honestly couldn't be more proud of the job that Andrew, Jack, and I did... this is most certainly the best record I've [...]

Last night, AbsolutePunk debuted a new track from Fun by the name of At Least I'm Not As Sad (As I Used to Be) . Most of the kids on AP are enjoying it. However, SilenceBrokenTT isn't sold: Left off right where he left... making music I don't enjoy in the least bit. I'm really looking forward to this album. And hearing some of the songs live. I'm crossing my fingers for a full band on the run with [...]

Haven't really seen any big April 1st jokes or hoaxes around this year. Maybe the economical situation fucked the humour, who knows? So I haven't seen anything until I visited one of my all-time favourite's site, Nine Inch Nails '. New record, WTF?! Haha, no. Trent Reznor is so full of ideas. (You know what I'm talking about if you saw the alternative ad campaign for Year Zero .) Let's take a closer look: "To download NIN's new full-length album Strobe Light , PRODUCED [...]

(picture credit: The Yellow Stereo ) Not only was Where the Wild Things Are one of my very favorite books growing up, it was also my breakout role as an actor when I was a little boy. No joke, my day care put on the play. I think I was only three, but I kicked-ass from what I remember. The trailer just premiered today on Ellen, and looks amazing-I can't wait for this to movie to hit theaters in October. Spike Jonze directed (Adaptation, Being John Malkovich, [...]

I'm not sure how I missed this band, but amongst the break-up of the Format, one of my favorite bands, comes a new band called Fun. It has Nate Ruess, former singer from the Format, Andrew Dost, multi-instrumentalist from Anathallo, and Jack Antonoff, lead singer of Steel Train. They've released one demo so far and spent all winter recording a new album which has a tentative Spring release. No official dates have been set, but after hearing that first demo, "Benson Hedges", it's safe to say this new band Fun will sound quite a bit like the Format. Which should [...]
Le Red Bull est de plus en plus omniprésent dans les clubs français. Son effet boostant retarde la fatigue et permet de danser plus longtemps. Pour autant, le Red Bull est-il vraiment l'ami du clubber ?

That headline just made me sad to type. There was a period of high school during which I listened to The Format (primarily Arizona natives Sam Means and Nate Ruess, though their tours included many other members) non-stop, as some of my friends can attest. They put out some of the catchiest pop songs I had ever heard, with the voice of Ruess unique to any other in the industry, which truly made the band stand out. They also experimented a ton with arrangements and instruments, as their second full-length Dog Problems demonstrated. [...]

Here are some photos I took from my favorite place in the world.

4. Fun Fun is the new brainchild of Nate Ruess (The Format) and Andrew Dost (Anathallo). News of this project has helped keep me from spiraling down into a deep dark depression over the loss of one of the greatest pop bands of all time. While I love the name, I am slightly annoyed that yet again I will have a hard time finding anything on them with just a google search. I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am to hear this album. Nate [...]
