Funeral Suits ' long-awaited Stephen Street-produced debut album Lily of the Valley gets set into the world on June 1st and it'll be streamed exclusively via State next week. 'All You Friendly People' , 'Health' , 'Florida' and 'Colour Fade' are the tracks you will have heard from it and in-between the Irish band inject a traditional British indie sound with shots of dense propulsive instrumentation, art rock flourishes, sharp guitar lines and a lot of melody. It's an imaginative and slightly claustrophobic debut which the band have already [...]

Dublin-based band Funeral Suits kicked off their year of activity at Eurosonic and here we get a taste of what's ahead with a stream of their new single 'All Those Friendly People', an anthemic sounding song produced by Stephen Street which gets a release on April 19th through Tri-tone/PIAS. It's the most direct the band have sounded so far. They are on a UK tour from later this month. 2012 could be a big year for Brian James, Mik McKeogh, Greg McCarthy and Dar Grant.

Tweet Birthday Mixtape - Side A by Soundsgoodtometoo A year ago today I was still recovering from the Reading Festival and sat at home contemplating that perhaps my musical career was never quite going to happen. It had been over a decade since Brother Jonny and the Monks and I still hadn't learnt to actually play any instruments. Time to move on. Instead, I decided to instigate the next best thing; a music blog. 2 hours later Sounds Good [...]

Tweet Ralph, Piggy, Jack and a whole plane load of adolescent boys crash land on a Desert Island, is a 'Famous Five' style adventure about to take place? Nope. William Golding had other plans and Lord of the Flies descends into a gruesome exploration of the inner evils of mankind. As famous as that story maybe, I'll admit I never quite expected the novel would be depicted again in a music video but Funeral Suits had other ideas: [...]
Disturbing. That's really the only word I can come up with to describe the new video from Funeral Suits to accompany their single 'Health'. I reviewed the single last week ( read here ), but nothing could prepare for the visuals below. Definitely the weirdest use of pig masks since the Beatles' 'Magical Mystery Tour'. Tweet I don't mean to be picky, but shouldn't The Funeral Suits be called The Wake Suits? I mean, they are from Ireland, and it was my understanding that this was more what the Irish went in for. Maybe I'm just pandering to stereotypes: I'll resist the temptation of suggesting they're avid potato fans, or three-foot tall and dressed in little green suits, or alcoholics. What they are is a Dublin-based three-piece comprising Brian James, Michael McKeogh and Greg McCarthy. You might have [...]

Funeral Suits are an Irish trio that makes some pretty interesting-sounding music. Now, that description might sound like I'm trying to avoid putting the band in a box. And you would be right. There's a gothic grandeur to the guitars in their upcoming single, 'Health', to be released on 26 September. The militant drumming, taken with a smarmily-delivered vocal, have more 'swagger' than the song that will never be named on TGTF, ever ( you know which one ...). This band is already looking ahead: they have slots on the BBC [...]
The Hard Working Class Heroes launch took place a few weeks ago, with a call to bands to submit their songs for consideration. The line-up was announced earlier this week and it's got such a wonderful and diverse grouping of bands (not from up North though - four bands) that [Read more]

Words: Saam Das We're rather fond of Irish trio Funeral Suits here at FG, with Jack giving them the Surfacing treatment recently. Unfortunately, their London gig this week (with fellow Surfacing alumni Pushing Hands ) was cancelled amidst our fair capital's chaos. But we have good news in the form of a video to perhaps their best track, 'Florida'. Watch and listen below. Jack described their previous single 'Colour Fade' as "oddly enchanting [...]

At a time when videos are an afterthought Irish bands are producing wonderful pieces of art to compliment their compositions. Funeral Suits who are finally close to their debut album have a video for an album track 'Florida' on YouTube. In the space of a week it's notched up a tasty 1,500 views and is an indicator that the band are making waves. I also love how the band are focused on the UK market knowing full well that progress there will be news worthy here! [...]
