Ever have a dream where you feel like you are just walking and walking and your pace is just getting slower as your body becomes heavier and heavier? This is how I would best describe the new track that Fat Cat Records just posted from Fur Hood titled "1 And The Sky Was As A Shield." This isn't to say that this track is dragged out, but rather that the tempo and instrumental effects make "1 And The Sky Was As A Shield" feel as though the band is trudging along through a path of psychedelic sounds. This is called the Dolecast for... well, for obvious reasons. I am on the downward slope to imminent joblessness, with my last day at Proper Job now pencilled in for the 23rd of June - the day before Glastonbury, rather handily. Actually festivals are something of a feature this Summer, as there's that one, Kelburn, Rockness, Fusion out in Germany, and then Knockengorroch, which I will be driving out to the very second I hit 'post' on this. We're also looking at going out to Musicfest Northwest this year as well, and of course the rather splendid Fence [...]

Fur Hood Allegedly I wrote about this band last year, I can't remember doing so though. Listening through now I kind of understand, they make good music! Lately I've been having an appreciation for instruments that sound like actual instruments, fur that is real and true and students who aren't afraid to speak their mind. The Twilight Sad kicked off their US tour with Mono in LA on Saturday night and this week the Kilsyth band will hit Portland, Seattle, Vancouver, Salt Lake City and Denver. The BBC's Vic Galloway has more on the Twilight Sad as well as our weekly listing of every Scottish gig outside the UK: The Twilight [...]
Taking their name from a mutual appreciation of the parka coat, Glasgow's Fur Hood will be leaving the jackets behind and heading out to southern Spain for a gig next month. Fur Hood spoke to us about the show and the last time they visited Spain when they had a bit of a scrap. Dear Scotland: [...]
Fur Hood A bunch of Scotsmen and an American make some music - sounds like the beggining of a strange, badly told joke but it's actually a good way to describe Fur Hood. This lot from Glasgow take the wonderful naievty and quirky sentimentality of The Blow and Tender Forever and put them over a choppy, bits-and-blips soundscape that reminds of someone like Psapp . Also, I'm pretty sure I heard the sound that Windows when its about to break somewhere in the background - listen [...]

I received an email the other day from a friend of mine who records under the name of Scuff ( MySpace here ) tipping me off about a band he plays in called Fur Hood . And they're good. It's sort of twee, with lazy harmonies and an unhurried pace, which creates something of the atmosphere of a prohibitively hot Summer's day. They use quite staccato rhythms and some genuinely eccentric percussion, which sounds like their playing the contents of their dishwasher. On top of these two elements drift washes of melodic electronica, somewhat reminiscent [...]
