Check it... * * * Spearheaded by John Kunkel (vox/producer) and amplified by Micheal 'Janzie' Janz (sequencing/synths), Mark Michalski (synths) and Brock Woolsey (guitar), The New Division is an LA based tour de force. Influenced by Joy Division, New Order and Depeche Mode, they have taken the tastiest slices of these bands [...]
Nashville Indie-Electro band Future Unlimited 's 'Golden' was the highlight of their recent EP, a lush sing-a-long ElectroPop epic full of rousing chords and heartfelt vocals. Well the best on the EP just got a little bit better with a reMix from southern Californian ElectroPop four piece The New Division . the New Division bring a little more groove and a little more synth goodness to their reMix. 'Golden' was pretty anthemic to begin with, but The New Division take it to uplifting new places, places where it's constantly sunrise. Giving the track a bit of [...]

Nashville dwellers Future Unlimited have pulled a 5-song gem from the ether for our listening pleasure. Released earlier this month, the duo's self titled EP reveals a mingling of dream-wave instrumentals and vocals that, in my mind, is overwhelmingly melancholic. Stream a highlight from the sampler, "The Coast", below. If you are intrigued, listen and download the whole shebang over at the band's website .

Future Unlimited 's history has been short to say the least, but every single moment of the Nashville duo's musical endeavour has been very well spent. Starting as a friendship formed through a noise complaint, to experimenting musically while working on an independent movie soundtrack, to the present moment, the synthpop duo has grown in popularity and talent incredibly quickly. Two months ago, they surprised the blogosphere with the standout track " Golden ," an anthemic synth-lovers dream steeped in the sounds that made '80s synthpop so great. The crooning vocals, the pulse-pounding synthesizers, the sweeping crescendos; Future Unlimited have [...]
Future Unlimited Future Unlimited EP Download/Stream B It's impossible not to think "eighties influenced" when you listen to Future Unlimited. The elastic planar synths and pulsing bass can't help but evoke that comparison. For all that though, you never really feel like this music would be at home on a dance floor. This luscious, relentless music belongs in the speakers of a convertible that's being driven aimlessly west. It is, of course, sunset, but you have no idea who the [...]

If you follow us on a regular basis, you're well aware of my obsession with throwback synth pop. Future Unlimited's first EP drips of 802s authenticity. My highlights are the brooding "Easy Ways" and the high energy "Golden". What about you? Future Unlimited - EP

First off, I want to send my thanks & love to the many people in Memphis, Nashville and in Austin whom we met at SXSW 2012 without whose generosity and love we wouldn't be here right now (there are way too many to name, you all know who you are). Future Unlimited asked me to give everyone their self-titled EP, so without any further rigamarole we decided to give everyone a chance to hear what folks in the know have been talking about for months. These five songs will need to tide [...]

So much Nashville pride coursing through these veins right now due to Samuel D'Amelio ( Y2k Resident Hands Off Sam) and David Miller's Future Unlimited project. The duo's 25min debut is made with smooth vocals, lush guitar work and cosmic analog pop. Of the 5 tracks offered, "Golden" is my favorite; it's simple, classic and undeniably catchy songwriting. Listen and download the EP bellow and catch Sam's Saturday night sets at Y2K's new spot, The High Watt in Mercy Lounge . [...]

A picture tells a thousand words, right? They also help capture a thousand bands, and for an event like Austin, TX's South by Southwest , a camera isn't an added incentive, it's a necessity. Last week, several of our photographers hit the bustling streets and furious venues, capturing the talent both young and old. For reference, you should know that a day at SXSW begins at 10 a.m. and doesn't stop until sometime between the hours of two or six in the morning. Yeah, that's a lot of footage. So, if you couldn't make it down to Texas, take a [...]

Spotted this over at Pigeons & Planes , who always seem to find some good music that I really don't see anywhere else. Those guys have a great ear for music, and one of their recent posts was an EP from Future Unlimited . The band let loose a 5 track debut EP the other day, which you can stream and download below. The music has this 80's synth/pop sound, but they have incredibly groovy tunes. Check it below. Via P&P Fresh? [...]
Nashville might not be the place you'd expect a duo like Future Unlimited to start pulling from the 1980s' lasting influence, looking to (appropriately) futuristic inspirations, and compiling their impeccably glossy no-wave synthpop, but indeed, that's where it all began for the short set of songs that's now getting the band noticed. For all the focus on otherworldly drones, opaque, planar '80s synths, and mechanical bass throbs lately, Future Unlimited are promising because they've found a way to incorporate those familiar elements into something new. You can now stream and download the duo's debut, self-titled EP. [...]

We've already heard two tracks ("Golden" and "When It Calls") off Future Unlimited 's debut self-titled EP. Today the full five-track collection is available for stream (below) or download (from the band's website ).
