Fyfe Dangerfield completely captures the meaning of a passionate artist. With one of the most natural and gorgeous voices, he fronts the genius band The Guillemots along with showcasing his talents in recent solo album Fly Yellow Moon . So whist on a train, Fyfe graciously took the time to answer some questions with AMBY on his incredible solo album, The Guillemots and more! AMBY: Your solo album Fly Yellow Moon is excellent! What did it allow you to do that you may not have done if it was a Guillemots record? [...]

Anyone who knows me knows that my love of the Guillemots has spanned for many years and is still very much alive. This made writing this review quite tricky because whilst I love the band and have done so for many years, I’m not too fond of this song. I think it’s a little dull and conventional and not quite what I’d expect from the band who released Sao Paolo. I actually much prefer the acoustic version of this that was played for Watch Listen Tell which involves Fyfe’s voice, a guitar, some sticks picked up in the nearby woods [...]

Tweet I can't remember ever getting as stoked about a single track as I have for Jhameel's “Shut-Up”. It has more energy than a group of thirteen-year-olds on a red bull bus and it's dirtier than the last three dudes Ke$ha hooked up with. If you could somehow combine Fyfe Dangerfield, Mayer Hawthorne, JJ Roddy Watson and some random homeless dude with night terrors you might come close to getting what Jhameel does in barely over four minutes. Basically "Shut-Up" is a testament to what happens [...]
. . .What a great week it's been for music in Indy. Bright Eyes on Thursday, the Head and the heart on Friday (both in-store at Luna and then an impromptu show at The Earth House after the decemberists cancelled) and then My Morning Jacked at white river on sunday. Unfortunately, my card reader has [...]

I must be a lover , terceiro clipe retirado de Walk the river (veja também os vídeos [...]
Idaho has a garage rock scene? Who knew? Straight outta Boise, ID comes some ethereal, crackly, bare bones Lo-Fi that springs into a symphonic finish. The slow, steady thump of this track's barely there drumbeat is epic. According to this blog, their album (worth acquiring, yo) was recorded in a Cold War bomb shelter. Which is [Read Full Post...]

I Must Be A Lover , due for release July 3rd, is the latest single to be taken from Guillemots ' critically acclaimed third album Walk The River . It's beautifully relaxed pushing Fyfe Dangerfield's gorgeous vocals to the fore with a fantastically heady video to accompany it. In fact there's something about the lights/nature combination in the video that makes me reminisce about times at Glastonbury Festival and as a whole I Must Be A Lover is further proof of why so many have found themselves falling in love with the band in the past [...]
The first time I saw Pete Lawrie live, he toddled on stage nervously and, perched on the edge of it, said "I get a bit nervous when I perform, so I think this is the best way to break the ice…" He then, without being in front of the microphone, began tearing into his acoustic [...]

Guillemots release "I Must Be A Lover" - the new single out June 19th The acclaimed new album 'Walk the River' out now The beautiful and exhilarating "I Must Be A Lover" is the latest single from Guillemots , released June 19, 2011 on Geffen . Taken from their stunning 'Walk the River' album, "I Must Be A Lover" is a rousing call of defiance against internal demons, a prayer [...]

The emergence of Guillemots around 2006 was, for me at least, a genuine breath of fresh air. At a time when the horrors of landfill indie were just starting to infiltrate pop music like the gradual and horrible dawning realisation of a particularly rotten fart, their blend of the expansive and the offbeat were a glorious escape, doubly so in the live arena. Appropriately, their debut album Through the Windowpane , though flawed, seems to have been remembered fondly for its ambitiously panoramic shots of idealism. Follow-up, Red , however, struggled to garner the same acclaim, [...]
When listening to lots of music, sometimes I get stuck for words. Trying the find the right descriptive words is not always that easy for me. I can find the right words to use for describing this profound, earnest and affectionate album by the Guillemots. They are the only words I need to use are [...] Continue..
I'm not going to act all tough here and pretend like a soaring voice with really gentle accompaniment doesn't get me every single time. When I heard this new James Irwin track, formerly of My People Sleeping out of Montreal, I got really excited, sort of like the first time I heard the latest from F. Dangerfield . This song comes from Irwin's new record, titled Blue Dust, which should be out this June, so get yourself ready. [...]
