One of the best aspects of 20112s breakout hip-hop group, G-Side , is their live performance. I have been lucky enough to see them twice, once in Memphis at the Hi-Tone Café and once at Glasslands Gallery in Brooklyn . While most hip-hop artists have a hype man or two to back them up on stage, G-Side generally have two supporting singers. Both times that I saw G-Side one of the back up singers, Joi Tiffany , captured my attention with her wide range and ability to take [...]

G-Side hits us with their new visuals for "No U In Us". The record is off their latest album, Island, and is very dope. G-Side's music talks a lot about their humble beginnings in Alabama, and how it's shape their mindframe and music. "No U In Us" speaks to that theme. Watch it below.
What: Alabama rap duo G-Side spend equal time quietly reflecting and rockin' stages in the music video for "No U in Us". The pair's latest album, Island , is out now. Directed by: Politik

We met SickSentz while he was in town for Digital Freshness with Mr. Muthafuckin' eXquire. He's a cool dude, plus nice on the beats. He's got a mixtape on the way, and sets it off with this remix of G-Side's "Recognize". I'll let the Peel Off explain from here. We're from Brooklyn. G-Side is from Alabama. We met them last year when we preformed together in Brooklyn. They're live Niggas. And Live Niggas respect it. DJ SickSentz, Peel Off's in-house DJ/Producer/Pussy Magician, remixed their track "Recognize", cuz let's be real, Real Recognize Real. This is the first drop [...]

Demonstrating solid teamwork, 2K Sports tapped SPIN to curate the soundtrack for Major League Baseball 2K12 . In turn, among several other major league talents, SPIN recruited Huntsville, AL rap duo G-Side , who eschewed submitting even more leftovers in favor of a new song entitled "Put Me in the Game". The hazy, synth-heavy beat isn't standard sports anthem material, but the boys' rhymes about Ken Griffey, Jr. and hurling curveballs should make anyone wanna swing a bat. Stream it below. G-Side - "Put Me in the Game" Other [...]
Rap can be easy, or, better put, it can be formulaic. Rapper A can gain Internet notoriety by generically coasting over any bass- or boom-bap-heavy beat without breaking a sweat [...]

Huntsville, AL rap duo G-Side have released yet another leftover track , this time from the sessions for last January's The One...Cohesive . "Spaceships" features a quaint piano line and mellowed drum machine percussion alongside inspirational rhymes about escaping one's problems. Stream it below (via Complex.com ).
Last last year, the tough, aspirational Huntsville rap duo G-Side released the excellent and vaguely overlooked album Island . One of its standouts was "Gettin' It," which featured the singer Join Tiffany, the blue-collar Maybach Music rapper Stalley, and a gorgeously psychedelic track from production team Block Beattaz. That track now has a low-budget video - not much to look at, but a good reason to revisit the song. Matt McGinley and John Turner direct. Watch it below. Read More...

Typically, the person behind the wheel of a Chrysler Town & Country or Dodge Astrovan isn't very intimidating. However, that's not factoring in the covert, cold-blooded killers who cruise the [...]

For four nights, T-Mobile & Google Music hosted me as a guest at their T-Mobile Presents Google Music party at the pop-up TAO nightclub during the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. The event boasted tons of celebs that partied hard until 5am every morning, so yeah, there was a lot of fun to be had. But the real story here is the indie acts that performed early in the evening each night. Google Music handpicked independent artists from across the country, representing various genres to showcase their brand of music to a packed house of attendees. [...]
Having a bad day? Is that incompetent boss of yours driving you up the wall that's already felt like it's been caving in on you? Well, if you're in need [...]
Last week, we took at look at Huntsville's rap scene for Area Codes , and in that feature we took stock of contributors like production duo Block Beataz and rap group G-Side. Though the track didn't make the G-Side's latest, iSLAND , it's a great example of Block Beataz' soaring production work and G-Side's blue collar rhymes. Download the track after the jump. New Block Beattaz produced G-Side. Huntsville stand up.

Huntsville, AL rap duo G-Side have released a leftover track from the sessions of their latest LP, iSLAND . According to the duo, "Land In The Sky" essentially "sets the tone for iSLAND . During recording it just didn't make the cut. Not due to it being whack just didn't fit with the last sequence." As such, the track is another banging example of the pair's trademark bass-heavy Southern rap, with a slightly bubbly, almost ambient tinge and an orchestral intro and outro to boot. Check it out below. [...]

Disclaimer: I think it's pretty obvious to everyone that "N****s In Paris" is the song of the year. But you guys have heard that a million times already, so I'm not going to spend a spot on it in this list. Curren$y - "She Dont Want a Man " Rap expert Noz said it best about Curren$y: "Dude's style has the uncanny ability to make everything on earth feel like it's levitating". The rapping here is good enough, with Spitta switching up his style by telling a story. That beat, though. I could listen [...]

With the end of Best of 2011 week upon us, it's time to start getting into the good shit. Each one of these beats held something special for me this year, whether they highlighted a completely different side of a rapper we all thought we knew, whether they knocked particularly hard, whether they put on a brand-new producer that the world hadn't heard before or whether they just proved that some beat-makers really never lose it. Though 2011 was dominated by knockoff Lex Luger beats, these 10 tracks all shined heavy. [...]
