Boody B is back with a remix of one of our favorite Aussie groups, Gameboy/Gamegirl . A year after it's debut, "Sweaty Wet/Dirty Damp" is pretty much a staple at this point... finding its way to our ears quite frequently. Breathing some fresh life into the song, Boody B works his magic making it sound ready for jock jams or something... love the italo house influences played out with the dirty electro rap. Gameboy/Gamegirl - "Sweaty Wet/Dirty Damp" (Boody B's Backslash Remix) (mp3) Word has it [...]

The sideshows for Australia's massive summer festival Good Vibrations have been announced! The Rapture and Calvin Harris will be both be playing sideshows in Sydney and Melbourne on separate dates. While this is great news for fans of both acts it must hurt to be in Brisbane, Perth or Adelaide. For me what hurts is that Kon the Louis Vuitton Don (aka Kanye West) isn't doing any side shows. I hope something more comes of this because while I have ragged him in the past I actually respect the guy. Calvin Harris will definitely [...]

Being the righteous dude that he is, Yama from G.L.O.V.E.S. (and that other neat little band Damn Arms ) hooked me up with one of his original jams, Dead Skin . Whilst people have been simply gagging with delight over the guy's remix work for Apache Beat , Teenagersintokyo and Gameboy/Gamegirl , Dead Skin is some brilliant stuff. It's got some great harsh, crunchy beats, buzzing synthesizers and even some furious guitar loops. Hot shit indeed! I've been given the green light to cast this baby off on its maiden [...]
It's a tragic day for music fans, with the pink palace falling victim to the shadowy BPI.... who seem determined to prevent music lovers from hearing anything new unless it's been vetted by Chris Moyles and Edith Bowman. The hypothesis that each download = a lost sale is clearly flawed.... and I for one see MP3s as a sampler for the real thing. If the BPI are so worried about people listening to

Whilst it may seem that I'm just trailing in the footsteps of Disco Dust and Big Stereo when it comes to posting on G.L.O.V.E.S. I assure you I ain't! Yep, the cool kids defence. I heard it first. I joke though, because I probably didn't. But Yama (Mr G.L.O.V.E.S. himself) was kind enough to send me these two brilliant remixes upon request not so long ago and it's time that all you Hypers out there wrapped your ears around 'em. The first comes from Apache Beat , who've also had the remix treatment [...]

Here's G.L.O.V.E.S latest remix of Gameboy/Gamegirl's "Sweaty Wet/Dirty Damp" - this track never gets old and G.L.O.V.E.S gives it a little fresh little makeover. Love it all over again. Gameboy/Gamegirl - "Sweaty Wet/Dirty Damp" (G.L.O.V.E.S. RMX) (mp3) G.L.O.V.E.S is Yama from Damn Arms - one of our favorite bands. So I was too busy (read: lazy) to do this yesterday ie I put it off to the last second, then decided to head down to the Tube at midnight to go get Sweaty Wet/Dirty Damp to a soundtrack of 'Blow the Whistle', 'Pop the Glock' and some Justice with my alcohol on the house (thank you considerate unknown bartender!) So I'll back date this later on to read like it was actually written yesterday. [...]

Gameboy/Gamegirl "Sweaty Wet/Dirty Damp" - There's a temptation to rebel against these sort of deliberate fun machines, especially if your idea of a great time isn't so extremely lewd and extroverted, but there's so much cutesy mischief and barely-contained glee to be found in this track that it's hard not to at least smile along. Gameboy/Gamegirl are approximating the sound of booty bass and Funk Carioca, but something has been twisted in their adaptation of the formula, resulting in a track that filters those sensibilities through the fluorescent funk common to the music of fellow Melbourne [...]

Gameboy/Gamegirl is made up of 3 MCs from Australia, with beats by Melbourne's Miami Horror . According to their mypace page, they say the words "shake," "hustle," and "whaaaaat" a lot. The band lists the Pack, Bonde Do Role, Clipse, and Yo Majesty among their influences, so as far as I know, they could've literally formed yesterday. They also make the kind of electro that sounds 100 times better in a club than sitting at your cubicle through your shitty computer speakers. Think JJ Fad , Fannypack , or Avenue D , but throw a [...]

Okay, Gameboy/Gamegirl is only a couple songs out the gate so any news of anything at all is totally exciting. Their sound has yet to be defined, but there is a pattern starting to emerge: total, pure fun. "Fruit Salad" sounds like Gravy Train doing JJ Fad with a little electro twist. So simple, yet I keep coming back to this track... like a hundred times in the past couple days. And um, who doesn't love fruit salad? Oh ee oh. You'll be playing just to sing along. Gameboy/Gamegirl [...]

Stop it Austalia. You would think they'd be done by now, but... here's Gameboy/Gamegirl . Gameboy/Gamegirl sounds like an ode to Spank Rock but with that big party Australia twist. Whatever. "Sweaty Wet/Dirty Damp" is gonna get a lot of play at camp BIGSTEREO. I only wish there was more... Big ups to 20jazzfunkgreats for pointing this track out. They're totally on the money with this one: Gameboy/Gamegirl - "Sweaty Wet/Dirty Damp" (mp3) And then check out [...]
