![[Listen] Lizzi Bougatsos: "Holiday (Dope Xxxmas)" (Feat. Josh Diamond)](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3947477_lg.jpg)

This Music Wins Albums Of 2011 #1 // 40 - 31 continued from part #1 #40 Girls - Father, Son, Holy Ghost (True Panther Sounds) Arguably Girls ' most courageous attempt yet, here the San Francisco surf rock band venture in to the realm of classic rock, not stopping short of cheesy licks, walking bass-lines or even gospel choirs. The soulful backing singers and hammond organs characterise most of 'Vomit', a song which strikes at [...]

Welcome, welcome, to 20JFG's fantabulous end of year round up. Once again we'll be raiding the year's archives for the tracks that made permanent homes on our digital/analogue devices. We'll also be posting a few things that we loved but didn't cover at the time: music that had already been blogged to death or music that its owner wasn't happy to give away...until now! So, over the next couple of weeks we'll tease out a stream of songs that made us happy to be writing this blog, year in, year out. At 20JFg we create [...]

♩ Katy B - Lights On [...]

(photo by cubagallery ) These are 50 tracks that defined 2011 for us, presented in highly unscientific ordered list form, with Matt's songs marked with a "-MG" and my choices with a "-TJ" next to them. To better spread the love, there's only one song per artist. Click the links next to the track to download / listen to the song and go to our Spotify Playlist to hear them all. Enjoy y'all! 50. The most wonderful time of the year, right guys? 'Twas the end of December, and all through the blogosphere, not a creature was stirring, except for the sounds of music writers springin' chub, strokin' egos, and Bon Iverin' via the storied tradition of the "best of" list. Well, The Decibel Tolls participates in that jive as well, save for the latter. Be it as it may. So yeah, man... 2011... shit. 2011 was a turbulent and gnarly year, and as such, we've been treated to some truly stellar music. Funny how that works - civic and economic tension [...]
It's been a banner year for Hardly Art. Seemingly back-to-back-to-back-to-back fantastic albums filled out a year capped of by the Gem Club album Breakers, a truly somber bit of orchestration. To celebrate the festive days cluttering up the calender before the inevitable turn towards 2012, the good folk at Hardly Art sent over a list [...]

You should have seen the deliberation room after we finished the lists. Papers scattered across the floor, blood and coffee stains on the carpet, I think at one point Kenny threw his laptop at Stuart (it just barely missed). But it makes sense, because each one of us are so passionate about the music we loved this year. So, check out what music meant most to each of our wonderful writers- Also, be sure to check out our top songs of the year (100-51 / 50-1 ) and top albums of the year [...]

The best albums are much more than a collection of stand out songs. Like anything successful, a great album finds multiple parts coming together as one; accomplishing moods, textures, and developments not possible by any one singular piece. The best albums force you to take a step back, to not only look at each moment but to examine how that moment fits into a larger picture. Perhaps most important, the best albums are constantly evolving begging for repeated listens to show you all of their ins and out. Check out the 50 albums that kept us coming [...]

Sure, a top songs list can never not be subjective, but these selections meant the most to us over the year of 2011. The following tracks brought every minute of joy to a new high, and every moment of heartache a bit of solace. These are the songs that kept us writing throughout the year, that brought us out to shows, lead us to meet so many wonderful people, and most importantly soundtracked a year of unforgettable memories. Pending the arrival of any global calamity, looking back at the songs of 2011 only builds our excitement to see what 2012 [...]
11. Cold Cave - "Confetti" At one point the Cold Cave record was possibly my favorite of the year. It just got so many things right at the perfect time: we were due for a reexamination of 902s wide-eyed teenage apocalyptic romanticism via some kind of self-conscious, unsubtle goth/industrial/synthpop revival. Heavy monosynth moongazing that's simultaneously tongue-in-cheek hilarious and dead-fucking-serious. I'm not sure everyone got the high-wire act that Cold Cave was going for here. 12. Purity Ring - "Lofticries" This is the track that [...]
Another great year of music is coming to a close. Below are my 30 favourite international songs of the year (last week I put up my 30 favourite Irish tracks of the year). There could have been plenty more but I'm sure you'll find lots of other tracks to enjoy [Read more]
Every casual browser of this here internet loves a list, particularly around this dishearteningly dark and ubiquitously dank time of year. Whether it be a page documenting childlike greed winking and nudging at material gain beneath the tawdrily-lit pine or the explicit illumination of what it was that made whichever year draws to an anticlimactic close shine and brighten the gloomiest bowels of forgotten memory, the pipes, wires and cabling of the web are currently clogged with Lisztomania. Not that referring to Ken Russell's full-length; nor to Rick Wakeman's stodgy soundtracking; nor to Phoenix' glowing estival peep but instead to [...]

Don't let your 9 to 5 job make you a square. Get yo Tuesday shaking with this dope remix of Gang Gang Dance's Chinese High from Nguzunguzu and a old club favorite of mine from Green Velvet. Gang Gang Dance– Chinese High (Nguzunguzu Remix) Green Velvet- Shake and Pop
...and it begins. The first ten albums are revealed. Check back the rest of the week to see the remaining

In a pretty perfect pairing of remixer and remixee, the L.A. DJ/producer duo Nguzunguzu has reworked the mystical Gang Gang Dance track "Chinese High," which comes from Eye Contact , our #6 album of the year . The new version amps up the track's body-jacking dance quotient without losing its astral world-traveler sensibility, and it rules pretty hard. Use the widget below to stream and/or download it.
