I've been pretty anxious to hear the album version of " House Jam ," the first single from Gang Gang Dance 's upcoming Saint Dymphna LP, since hearing what xxxchange did with the song a few weeks back. I mentioned then that this is what it might sound like if Timbaland produced the Knife , and I'm happy to report that the original is just as danceable (and immediately infectious and accessible) as xxxchange's banger. Download it over at fluxblog . [...]
Gang Gang Dance "House Jam" - It's probably a good idea for the Gang Gang Dance to tighten up. Their previous records have had interesting moments, but generally suffered from sounding a bit too much like a drunk Siouxsie Sioux fucking around with an even more inebriated Banshees at soundcheck. The voice and the aesthetic was there, but the discipline was not. "House Jam," despite its annoyingly generic title, finds the group embracing hooks and stronger grooves, but not at the expense of their loose, quasi-mystical vibe. It's almost as if they remembered that the [...]

Christ wilikers. Jason Savvy is straight up awesome style. He emailed me yesterday and offered up a nice dusk-time peek through the 88 Boadrums' looking glass. In tandem with the theme, Jason shot eight videos at 88 seconds a piece, and included some choice photos. I'm totally digging the Close Encounters of the Third Kind vibe. As Gang Gang Dance took over camp counselor duties in New York, Eye and Company led the brigades at the La Brea Tar Pits. Jason's report from the war [...]

And here's the first video that surfaced from the Brooklyn performance conducted by Gang Gang Dance . I would've undoubtedly elected to watch/participate in this than watch the Olympic opening ceremonies or whatever. Feels like marching to war, doesn't it? This sounds soooo good. If anyone who went has some decent shots, please send them my way and I'll handsomely reward you with, I dunno, baked goods or somethin'.

Following up on last year's 77Boadrum , the even has expanded and gone bi-costal. This year, you'll get live drumming in both NYC and Los Angeles. The LA venue will be at the La Brea Tar Pits, nestled in the heart of the city. For NYC, the everyone will be gathering at the Williamsburg Waterfront. The west coast event will be conducted by Soft Circle contributor and 88BoaDrum artistic director Hisham Bharoocha ; east coast duties will be handled by local act Gang Gang Dance . Both cities will be performing an [...]
Gang Gang Dance have successfully avoided genre labels up until now, so I'm not going to be the person who attempted to pigeon hole them. In a telling interview with Vice earlier this year, GGD talks about making music in reaction to their dislike of other music being released. They go on to say that although their process might start from a negative place, something musically beautiful usually comes out of it. Given the amount of times I've gotten lost in God's Money - I'd have to agree. Three years since the release of their first [...]

Manchmal reicht ein Song, um ein neues Genre zu kreieren. Doch wie zur Hölle soll man das nennen, was Rainbow Arabia machen? Medina-Rave? Pyramiden-Disco? Zouk-Trance? (more...)

Shows are light this Thursday. Here's what to check out: It's a CD release party at Johnny Brenda's in Philly for Aderbat . Saturday 54-year old Sex Pistols singer John Lydon broke open a can of whoop-ass. On the receiving end was 25-year old Bloc Party singer Kele Okereke. The backstage mele led to the arrest of *Foals *singer Yannis Philippaki for his attempts to forcibly stop the dispute. Okereke claims that the attack was racially motivated. Lydon maintains that he's just fucking tired of being asked about Public Image Ltd. Jose would like to see the instant replay. [...]
It really can't come soon enough, but in a few months time one of our most beloved of NYC experimentalist groups, Gang Gang Dance, will return to bestow upon us a new album of their intoxicating neo-tribal tekno trance that should sufficiently have everyone's bodies violently convulsing soon enough. Following ...

XXXChange extends his unprecedented Ian Kinsler -esque hitting streak with this gangster new remix of Gang Gang Dance 's upcoming single, " House Jam ." Sounds like Karen Dreijer getting down in the club with Timbaland, only with more guitars: mp3: gang gang dance :: house jam (xxxchange remix) ( via ) ****************************** ******** The original version of " House Jam " will appear on GGD's Saint Dymphna LP, which [...]

New remix of Gang Gang Dance done by Spank Rock producer XXXchange. have good memories seeing Gang Gang Dance in the Hub last year , they played a blinder and Lizzi Bougatsos was very nice to myself and cletus_buckley giving us some free beer and a lot of tequila, good times. MP3> Gang Gang Dance - House Jam (xxxchange remix)

So after all the talk and the hoo-hah and the scumbags and the line-up announcements and the pictures of burning tents and the hating and the rain and the mud and more talk and hoo-hah, Oxegen has rolled around again, boasting what is probably the best line-up of all European festivals. Those of you who have been there before and have been to any other festival other than it too can attest that as far as things-to-do is concerned Oxegen is severely lacking but nobody can argue with the quality line-up showcasing some of the best that music is offering [...]
You can hear house jams aplenty out there these days, but the single calling itself that isn't what I'd typically expect of the phrase. Then again, there isn't much typical about Brooklyn's Gang Gang Dance . Due to be released on a 12" this month with a Hot Chip remix on the flip, "House Jam" does loop some house-style euphoric female vocals. It does have acid-squelchy synths. And you could imagine somebody like Panda Bear calling it a " jam ". But the drums have [...]
