Unfortunately, the conclusion of a music festival means the inevitable return to reality! While, myself and others attempt to recuperate in between 9-5 work days, I think we should make an equal effort to apply some inertia to this process by listening to this year's stand-out artists and headliners. Enjoy the remainder of the week, and prepare for your next festival adventure! 1. Original post: Governors Ball 2013: Festival Wrap Up, Ft. MS MR, Cold War Kids, Kendrick Lamar + More [...]

In 1994, when there were no Vines or Instagrams or Twitter feeds or blog updates to at least slightly numb one's FOMO, I watched MTV's coverage of the Woodstock re-up as a means to dull my anger about being born in the '80s. I was too young to go, and the dry, dirt-and-mud-free confines of my parents' basement were where I sat and watched it. It was aspirational. The mud didn't seem necessarily like fun, but with so many bands playing so close together, I could imagine braving the elements. Of course, at the time, I had no idea that [...]

Between house band The Roots and guitar wiz Gary Clark Jr., Dream had all of his instrumental bases covered, and the power trio put on one heck of a sultry performance. Catch [...]

Sun; pouring rain; more sun; more pouring rain - the Sweetlife Festival definitely had its share of weird early summer weather. But none of that detracted from the experience that was had listening to the bands playing there last Saturday. If anything, the pouring rain added to the religious experience - especially during Phoenix's set. One after another, amazing artists played at main stage, ensuring that no one would give up their seats along the pavilion - that is, until it started pouring. Though I have never previously listened to [...]

Gary Clark, Jr. released his debut album Blak and Blu in October 2012.

In 2010, Sweetgreen’s first ever Sweetlife Festival rocked the back parking lot of the Dupont Circle location. I remember dancing to a Hot Chip DJ set next to a Toyota Camry with my hallmates. The capacity of the lot was about 150. Three years later, I drove to the mammoth Merriweather Post Pavilion for the festival, expanded to host huge acts like Kendrick Lamar and Phoenix, with an estimated audience of 20,000. It’s not just salad anymore, either - the fest boasted a gourmet food selection that rivals that of food festivals, with mac and cheese food trucks and [...]

When it comes to modern day blues artists, Gary Clark Jr. is in an elite class that is occupied by very few others. And if you're not convinced by that statement or need further proof of what I am talking about, just check out this new video for "Numb" that GCJ just released and listen to the minute long guitar solo he absolutely shreds the hell out of in the middle of this song. If that doesn't convince you, then you should just go back to listening to Hanson because you have horrible taste in music. The [...]

Gary Clark Jr. has it all: conspicuous style, a convincingly bluesy voice and raw, mesmerizing, Hendrix-like guitar talent. His latest video for “Numb,” off of last year’s Blak and Blu EP , features GC Jr. embattled in a tumultuous relationship and gives insight into his very personal style of coping, namely collect guitar and amplifier, load aforementioned items into a tricked out Cadillac Fleetwood, drive into the country and blow off some steam. The only reason that I can really think of that would warrant the use of [...]
If there is anyone that can be called the modern day Jimi Hendrix , then Gary Clark Jr. would be the closest to that title. The blues rocker is back with a black and white video for the infectious guitar-driven tune "Numb." The visual shows us some of Gary's female problems but he deals with it by hopping in his car, cruising the roads, and playing some guitar. Boss status. Fresh? Tweet
