Sounding genuinely, almost terrifyingly like nothing else are Human Teenager who, comprised of New Yoiker Gary War (an original and integral scribble in what later became Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti) and Taylor Richardson of Infinity Window , come together to wallow in aqueous, intermittently murky analogue stylings. Fourth Reich is the first track to be lifted off a full-length entitled Animal Husbandry that's expected March 27th via Spectrum Spools , an imprint of Editions Mego seemingly stamped with the authority of Emeralds' John Elliott - if the limited Soundcloud spiel is to [...]

Next week I'm off to visit a friend in The Netherlands and le guess what - there's a really nice festival going on at the time! Le Guess Who? takes place in Utrecht from November 24 to 27, with the performances spread over eight different indoor venues throughout the city. Lineup includes Gang Gang Dance, Zola Jesus, John Maus, Panda Bear, Low, Bill Callahan, Gary War, Shabazz Palaces, Zomby, EMA, Com Truise, Puro Instinct, Roll the Dice, Babe Rainbow, Anika and many others. Unfortunately, I can only attend the last two days, but that still leaves me with [...]

Thirty years ago, punk-Dada terrorists Seth "Xerox" Feinberg and "Egg" Al Nidle posted up Clark University's campus with flyers proclaiming, "talentless guitarist and drummer seeking bassist and lead guitarist to form post-punk new wave pop pseudo-psychedelic band." Mike "Doc" Michaud and Kris "Tripp" Thompson replied, and The Prefab Messiahs formed as the agent provocateurs of the Worchester, Massachusetts underground. They denounced Regan-era consumerism and conformity, aiming to revolutionize pop music while simultaneously throwing a "plastic culture" back in its face. Beyond-ironically, they heralding Ronald McDonald and The Pillsbury Doughboy as the prefabricated messiahs of society at large. [...]

Human Teenager is the duo of Gary War and Taylor Richardson ( Infinity Window ), founders of the Brooklyn-based psych label Fixed Identity . "Whites (In General)" is a track from their upcoming debut LP, Animal Husbandry , slated for release in early 2012 on a label that has yet to be determined. A visceral, ambient/industrial, psych/noise, multi-layered speedball of analog synthesizers, drum machines, and samples, "Whites (In General)" buzzes us up while numbing us out. Adrenaline-pumping, high frequency oscillations, darting arpeggios, and sharply apocalyptic battle sounds juxtapose with warped vocal samples, slow drones, [...]
The Phoenix-born Northern California/Brooklyn-based noisemakers Servile Sect play "sci-fi influenced black metal." It's even more awesome than that sounds. The band, featuring Luke Krnkr (one half of ITHI) and Ash Borer's Nhate Clmnt, previously released two full-lengths (and one EP), the last one Realms Of The Queen via Ecstatic Peace. Album three Trvth is out now in an edition of 250 courtesy of R. Loren's trusty Handmade Birds imprint. (I gave Trvth a mention at the start of my Top 26 Metal Albums Of 2011 So Far because it's another favorite, one [...]

Here's ridiculous for you: '60s-style garage psych re-imagined as lo-fi indie noise pop. This shouldn't work, and frankly it comes close to that. Way too much going on, all the effects pedals on at once and a barmy blend of styles. But you end up admiring Gary of the Apocalypse for his sheer gusto, if not quite for his taste and restraint. This week you may well hear better songs than Highspeed Drift , but you're unlikely to hear one that's more appropriate for your next day-glo lunar beach party. It's taken from his [...]

Among other exciting label news , we just caught wind that Gary War and Taylor Richardson ( Infinity Window , Human Teenager, Purple Haze) have lauched their own Brooklyn-based imprint, Fixed Indentity - a "labor of love" dedicated to "next-level psychedelic achievements of the present, past, and future." Kicking off this initiative, a remastering of British guitarist/songwriter/poet/auth or Martin Newell 's 1985 limited-run cassette, Songs For A Fallow Land . Newell - known alternately as the "Wild Man of Wivenhoe " and "Britain's busiest wordsmith, tunesmith, and horitcultural assasin"- is a cult legend of sorts. He began his career in the glam-rock band [...]

It's time to listen to a bunch of the tracks I have not posted recently. Here is the next NOT POSTED mix. These are just a few of the songs that would get there own individual posts on here on GIMME TINNITUS, if I only had the time. This time it's not just remixes. Listen. Downloadables: Minajah (mp3) by True Womanhood (part of the REEL TOO REEL project) Go Ahead ( Snoretex [...]

More pictures of people from the New Jersey scene! Ducktails sounded it good with a full band; it was the first time I'd seen that. I kind of missed the textured sounds of his button-pushing, but it was still as good as we've come to expect from that crew. I really like The Surprisers. I like them more every time I see or listen to them, and I hope they keep writing a ton of songs and develop their live show into something really dynamic. I'll admit that I didn't stick around for Gary War too long, so I'm not [...]

Future Arithmetic While we're on a buzz of Ariel Pink and his awesome album Before Today, here's something of a similar ilk. Gary War toured with Ariel Pink six years ago, when he lived in Los Angeles; these days he resides in New York and is associated with Sacred Bones Records , who recently released his latest EP Police Water. During a recent interview with the New York Press War describes his music [...]

This show is free! I mean, the poster says $8, but Matt Mondanile tweeted that it was free, so I'm gonna go with that. Ducktails and Gary War are both totally sweet noise-ish acts that I've covered often on this blog, and they're both hosting the show in support of new recordings. The Surprisers have also been blogged about quite a bit here, and while I think they still need more shows under their belts, the lead singer is a ton of fun to watch and the songs are quite good. Even The New Yorker thinks [...]

A very happy new year to one and all. Getting back into the swing of things with a few bits from the end of 2010. I was sent a most enjoyable version of Harmonia's 'Watussi' by Stockholm artist Elias Krantz , it's part of a compilation curated by Swedish label Airwaves that pays homage to Kraut leg-end Micheal Rother. Mr Krantz is busy preparing his second long player which should be with us soon. More details too follow.. Elias Krantz- Watussi (Download) Gary War [...]

These are a few of Gary War 's favorite things from 2010, in no particular order: > The Acid Archives- Second Edition > Hartley C. White > Moog O.S. upgrades > Harry Merry "Truffles" gig - Rotterdam > " Synthiefrau " YouTube Channel > Leonard Redriver > P.C. Worship : N.Y.C. Stone Age Gary War on Myspace .

But perhaps even more interesting than LPs this year were the EPs, like those from Zola Jesus, James Blake, Forest Swords and Light Asylum, just to name a few that really stood out. Check out the complete list below. Light Asylum : In Tension Forest Swords : Dagger Paths James Blake : Klavierwerke / CMYK Zola Jesus : Stridulum / Valusia Twin Sister : Color Your Life [...]
Ho Ho Ho This weekend's mixtape is the recording of my radio show Sonar, two days ago. Enjoy the Hebrew talking, even if it sounds like alien talk.
