MarQ Spekt has been one of my favorite MC’s for a few years now. His album with acclaimed producer Kno was one of the best hip hop albums of 2011 and the video for their single “Wikileaks” was featured on Thought on Tracks a few months back. Spekt has flown largely under the radar in 2012, but that’s not because he hasn’t been putting in work. If you follow Spekt’s entertaining and informative twitter account, you’ll be amazed by the amount of projects he seemingly always has going on. His next project Broken Mazes [...]
In a very, very interesting turn of events, grimy spitter MarQ Spekt has linked with none other than experimental musician Gary Wilson. Spekt got the chance to dig through a nearly endless supply of compositions by Wilson and we'll be hearing the end results of that excavation on the Broken Mazes EP. Actually, no, we're getting a taste right here in lead single "Dreamer", a proggy and gully joint you can peep below.

Tonight we welcome back to the Glasslands stage the strange and wonderful Gary Wilson . Over the last year or so his re-re-introduction into the public eye has been a positive process to watch-not always the case when you pull an artist out of relative obscurity. He's the kind of performer that includes the audience in the whole creative process; he wants you to move around, to be uncomfortable, to react somehow. Check out this video from his album release party for Feel The Beat, his latest release , back November at Public Works [...]
by @alancholesterol When Gary Wilson returned to his solo career after almost three decades in obscurity, he picked up exactly where he left off-obsessing about the same ex-girlfriends and building upon the same bizarre musical style he introduced to the world with his 1977 cult classic You Think You Really Know Me . His comeback in 2002 was thanks to Motel Records , whose exhaustive but successful efforts to track him down for a reissue sparked a renewed interest in the eclectic multi-instrumentalist and student of John Cage. This led [...]

Not much to say about Gary Wilson that has not yet been said. I'm glad he's back. I'm glad I got to hear "6.4 = Make Out" live. I'm glad that he feigned giving birth on stage for a packed performance at Red7. I'm glad the on-stage baby powder explosion did not adversely affect my camera. I'm glad that, after seeing him in person, in tandem with his Linda meme and the fact the he was discovered working in an adult theater after a two decade absence, I can say I unequivocally believe his creepiness is sincere. I'm [...]
"Secret Girl," the new video from Gary Wilson , has a feel that suggests the early days of 3D animation (or perhaps the early reels of Pixar films--if you've ever seen the deleted scenes on the various DVDs). It ends up having a slightly unfinished feel as a result, but I can't help but wonder if that is exactly the idea.

One more Washington outfit for today. This second one is alternative, fuzz-pop Echo Tongues. Echo Tongues is the self-described child of Seattle-based Gary Wilson. Gary is joined by Tom Grady, Jessie Gore, and Ryan Merz. I guess it's because of where Echo Tongues comes from but I feel this indie pop pays homage to the grunge legacy of the Pacific Northwest in a lot of ways. The sound has a dazing sort of effect on you as you listen. It's amazing how quickly it can make six minutes pass. If you play it a couple times like I [...]
![[Watch] – New Video By Gary Wilson – “In The Night”](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3023997_lg.jpg)
Well this is perhaps the maddest thing I have seen this month. Gary Wilson, whose 1977 album "You Think You Really Know Me" gained widespread attention on it's 2002 rerelease, has put together a new album, and this is the first video from it. Given a cursory listen sans the visuals, you might think this to be another contender in the already-packed marketplace that is the chillwave genre. However, give the song a spin with the visuals and it becomes something else entirely. There isn't much else I can say about it really, give it a watch and [...]

Yes, that Gary Wilson . I had just received an email about his scheduled appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday, October 27 (just in time for All Hallow's Eve) and I couldn't believe. So I wrote about it on Twitter. And guess who responded.... Hoooo boy, that's creepy. Now I know how "Linda" must feel. He'll be on promoting his new album, Electric Endicott out November 9th on Western Vinyl , which I'm very excited to hear. Wonder if he'll perform full bandage? Also, there might [...]
