Peruvian blog Revista 69 asked twelve bands and artists from Spain and Latin-America to cover a Gainsbourg track. The exhilirating result is downloadable for free ( HERE , scroll down to where it says 'Descargar'). The bands deconstructed the tracks, added electronics, jazz-elements, latin percussion and what not. There isn't a bad cover here, I really dig the surfed up-version by Los Protones and the chillwaved Color Café by Algodon Egipcio. In what I believe is a blog debut, I'd like to introduce Athen, Georgia's Androcles and the Lion. Their debut EP is called As Far As Blindness Could See . Originally, the album was scheduled for release in August, but the group introduced it July 22nd, 2011. It's been nearly twelve years since the Athens, GA experimental, psych-pop band, Olivia Tremor Control released a full-length album. 19992s musical collage, Black Foilage: Animation Music Volume One incorporated nearly every instrument possible, or so it seems and loads of overdubbing and cutting & pasting. The band announced a U.S. tour early this month and here is a portion of an interview with Cullen Hart, Eric Harris and Bill Doss of Olivia Tremor Control.
