Lo-fi, bluesy southern drawl, hint of psychedelia, hailing from Louisana... okay, they may share a few (dozen) similarities with Neutral Milk Hotel but I still think there's plenty to be said about the sound of GASHCAT. They have an EP that you can download/listen to for free on Bandcamp. It's a lot of fast, twanging guitars and pounding drums over a lo-fi fuzz, but there are moments of psyche-freakouts ("Glitter") and brassy instrumentals ("Ship Island") to keep you on your toes. I'd like to see what else they have to offer, I'll be keeping an eye out. [...]
