i forgot to post up the Wikipedia page i recently wrote for gay against you here. During the writing for this, after i lamented that i regretted not seeing them live, Joe reminded me that not only had i driven them to two separate shows, in York and Cardiff, i also played drums for them at the Cardiff show. i have no earthly idea how i could have forgotten this, but i was very pleased to be reminded of it. Reblogged from Joe . So, despite that clumsy business with the music blogs the other week, Google have struck a somewhat more positive blow in ending censorship in China : The Chinese government has threatened sanctions against Google Google has stopped censoring its search results in China, ignoring warnings by the country's authorities. Gay Against You- Cruisin' These Glasgow guys are getting ridiculously decadent on this new LP, feeling massively lost inside a broke Spectrum but not overly worried about it, just searching through those grey plastic tunnels and designing gawky and elaborate trimmings to go in there, squawking with pre-Christmas ridiculousness, but wait, are they playing in 2D? Sounds like "electric cereal" and obviously like a very manic childhood yeah really loving how they pull this all off without sounding totally annoying, real squiggly and overloaded with KFC and an urge to overdub grainy [...]
Pictureplane has been surfing the waves of the tie-dyed pop nouveau atoll for a while, a bit like Patrick Swayze in Point Break, but wearing x-ray specs and heavy liquid tattoos. Telepathic dolphins, megalodon sharks and surreal all-encompassing consciousness coralline configurations stare in his wake as he lands careless from ...

Glasgow's Gay Against You is (I hope) the best and most important of the Hardcore/Happy Hardcore bands from the UK. The duo certainly stands for the most in terms of developing scenes on the other side of the pond, and -- in my humble opinion -- has the most artistic and creative potential behind their work. That's to say, I guess, that they don't ever end up bugging me as so many energetic/hyper hardcore groups do. Just the way in which they responded to all of my questions in this interview reflects their style and sound ... read [...]

There may be a slight lack of posts over the coming weeks as I'm moving house next week - so to tide things over a quick post about a band that aren't from the late 80's. Now that the word "gay" seems to have taken on a third meaning for a third generation (has a word ever changed meaning so often?? I can't keep up..I'm still in my 19th century dandy costume here..) the main problem a band called Gay Against You face is the fear they may turn out to be as utterly terrible [...]
