On the heels of their Coachella 2013 gig this past weekend, Minneapolis indie act Poliça have returned with some new studio-recorded newness in the form of "Tiff", a record that finds the outfit continuing apace with the fantastical art-rock-esque riffs on electronic R&B that was lain on last year's mostly well-received debut effort Give You The Ghost . Arguably the act's most sensual moment thus far, "Tiff" aims straight for the nether-regions as a deeply seductive bump n' grind pose, its slow churning bed of spacey synth [...]

At Coachella over the weekend, Bon Iver frontman Justin Vernon joined the Minneapolis synth-rock quintet Poliça onstage to sing "Tiff," a new single. (Poliça's Ryan Olson and Channy Leaneagh are Gayngs bandmates with Vernon, so the connection is not entirely random.) And today Poliça shared the song's studio version, which brings some of Bon Iver's astral drift to Poliça's gleaming blips. Listen to "Tiff" below. Read More...

Justin Vernon has been a busy man lately. He's released a new blues record with The Shouting Matches , who just performed at Coachella. Vernon also joined Poliça on stage at Coachella to perform a new song, "Tiff," which has now been released as a single. Vernon gushed about Poliça's debut release last year and has previously teamed up with Poliça's Ryan Olsen in Gayngs . Vernon's vocals fit their dark , electronic sound like a glove, so the collaboration really isn't surprising, but it is superb. Listen to "Tiff" above, [...]

Early last year, Justin Vernon made the bold assertion that Poliça is the best band he's ever heard. This past weekend, the man behind Bon Iver doubled down on that statement and performed on-stage at Coachella with the Minneapolis outfit on a new collaboration, "Tiff." Today, the studio version of the track has emerged online for your listening pleasure. Vernon's voice shines alongside Channy Leaneagh's siren song on what we can only assume is an electric soul ode to the industry-standard image file format. Stream it below. STREAM: Poliça - [...]

As Bon Iver winds down, Justin Vernon returns to the hiphop game, appearing on the new P.O.S. album We Don't Even Live Here. The follow-up to 20092s rad as hell Never Better drops today, and it includes the not-as-unlikely-as-it seems collab. For those that don't know, P.O.S. is part of the Minneapolis based Doomtree crew, who were also part of the Vernon-led mass collaboration Gayngs. So it makes a lot of sense for the two midwest artists to hook up again. The track is an absolute jam. The production is on point over the whole album, but [...]

What does one do when Ryan Olson, the mastermind behind the Minneapolis Supergroup Gayngs suggests that you start your own band? Well, if you are Channy Leanagh (née Casselle) formerly of Minneapolis folk band Roma di Luna and one of the vocalists in Gayngs- you take the suggestion and help. Olson took some of the songs that Channy had been writing and added some of his own electronic wizardry- a process similar to how he grew the Gayngs album. Olson then called in some other musicians he had worked with the vision [...]
Poliça's live performance at The Independent in San Francisco unquestionably surpassed the packaged product.
Three years is a long time to go without any new P.O.S. We've had the recent pleasure of hearing his work as part of hip-hop collective Doomtree and indie super-group Gayngs , but these features haven't come close to the genius of the Minneapolis artist's 2009 breakout album, Never Better . To put it in the words of Stefon Alexander himself, we're so thirsty for more . Enter "Bumper," the first single off P.O.S.' upcoming album, We Don't Live Here Anymore . "Bumper" finds [...]
