Radical Magical is a series of podcasts done by DJ Wreckineyez and myself. It gives us the opportunity to showcase music and continue to provide a sense a community within a world we're constantly pitted against each other. Relax, enjoy and have fun listening to the music that will one day save the world. RADICAL MAGICAL DUUUUUUDE! – Asher Asher Roth goes over a classic little melody with a hip-hop twist and shows that he isn't just another white rapper. I know a lot of people who just look at him as the [...]

Hey, hello, hi, how ya derrin...Looks to us as if Asher is coming out with a new album at some point, but when that actually does happen, deranged is going have already released every track, so you're are welcome. Or, not welcome if you think Roth is a one-hit oneder. Mr. Keepin' it Cleannn This song is short and sweet, its got an intense beat and I dig the D cut references - straight white guy rap. Check out the lyrics here! [...]

Through a recent experiment with classic gazpacho, I learned that I am not into eating tomato-based ones. It kind of feels and tastes like I'm drinking a salad. But, watermelon gazpachos are a different story. I tried making one last summer, and I fell in love. eating s/f 's recipe is a refreshing dish for a summer picnic, and it has a rather complex flavor profile. It's sweet, tart, spicy, and all around amazing. I would recommend that you start off with half a jalapeno, and add more to taste. The jalapeno [...]

Our mail bag has overflowed with new tunes this month. Out of procrastination excuses and with the e-mail piling up, we took a deep breath, steadied our nerves and went postal. To our surprise there's some really good stuff in there. A few of these artists we already knew about, but many are flying below the radar. From now one, we'll make it a regular feature to share the mailbag goods. Check out the tracks below and let us know who you like, so can get more material on them in the future. [...]
Writing an introduction for these things is becoming increasingly difficult. After all, each new Friday Mixtape seems to one up the last, leaving me scouring the thesaurus in hopes of finding a new way to say awesome! Awe-inspiring? Wondrous? Mind-blowing? All work... and all describe this week's edition, which of course features a mix of the best new singles, remixes, and covers as well as mp3s from some up-and-comers you just might want to check out. NEW Singles: "Shape Shifter" by Armistead Burwell Smith IV (of Pinback) [...]
MCMB thought this was one of the most well-written explanations of a band's song they had ever heard and wanted you to read it to:Imagine an alternate universe, one where prog music is the dead sexiest thing on earth, dripping with pheromones, adored by legions of swooning females and respected by swarms of envious dudes. Yeah, high school would have been a lot easier for us if that were the case
Download audio file (gazpacho.mp3) As I hope I've made blatantly clear, I'm always looking for bands that mix various musical ideas in ways I haven't heard, or at least haven't noticed. I'm also afraid of becoming that guy that has heard so much music that the only thing he can get into is extremely abstract. The only mechanism I have to battle that is to actually restrict the amount of new music I choose to listen to. I kid you not, I actually have a queue of about 20 bands I've never listened to beyond a [...]

From the mailbox: Much like I had no idea that there was such thing as an Encyclopedia of House, I also had no idea that there were so many subgenres of Prog Rock including, but not limited to: (deep breath) Heavy, Aggressive , Rio-Avant, Tech-Extreme, Neo and Symphonic Prog. Gazpacho , from Norway, have been around a few years and are mostly a self-made (i.e., self-promoted band) who are considered 'Dutch Prog.' Their album Tick Tock , a concept project, is based on the writings of Antoine Saint-Exupery (specifically his book [...]

Described by one critic as being "classical post ambient nocturnal atmospheric neo-progressive folk world rock," Norway's Gazpacho is virtually impossible to contain in any set genre of music, though bands like Sigur Rós, Muse, Talk Talk and Porcupine Tree have been named in reference to them. Their newest work is no exception to this and has haunted speakers since it was recently released in their home country. Now set for release in the United States and Canada on October 13th on the Dismanic label, Gazpacho's latest, a concept album appropriately entitled Tick Tock has the pendulum-like power to entrance and [...]
