As many of you probably already know, Boston hip-hop group The Dean's List finally released their much anticipated album Generation X at Midnight last night. I was able to listen to it in full today on Spotify and was super impressed. In addition to the album release, the group dropped a music video to one [...]

You didn't forget about The Dean's List did you? Or about Generation X (April 3)? It's all good, one play of "Hollywood" should be enough to kick-start the memory back up and have their third mixtape on your watch list. Finally a new track from The Dean's List. We have been promoting their music for quite a while and though "Hollywood" is not their best track they have ever produced, it is still awesome! It's off their upcoming project Generation X which is sure to be quite impressive. They have been widely successful off of [...]
Don't call them hip-hop or electro or rap, or you might end up on their list.

Sono sedici i brani che fanno parte della raccolta Essential in cui si trovano tutti i pezzi più importanti di Billy Idol. Il musicista dal broncio è stato fra le figure più note del punk inglese prima con i Generation X e del british rock degli anni ottanta. Fra i brani del cd anche Rebel Yell, Catch My Fall, To Be A Lover, Sweet Sixteen, Flesh For Fantasy e Shock To The System. Doree Shafrir in Slate : The Carter babies—anyone born between his inauguration in January 1977 and Reagan's in January 1981—are now 30 to 34, and, like Carter himself, the weirdly brilliant yet deeply weird born-again Christian peanut farmer, this micro-generation is hard to pin down. We identify with some of Gen X's cynicism and suspicion of authority—watching Pee-Wee Herman proclaim, "I'm a loner, Dottie. A rebel," will do that to a kid—but we were too young to claim Singles and Reality Bites and Slacker as our own (though that didn't stop me from buying the [...]

Much of the nation, most especially the mid-west and the south, have been trapped under a dome of extreme heat for the past month or so, while the Northeast has been dipping in and out of excessive temperatures for weeks. Here in the west, we've had a mild summer with below average temperatures for most [...] Read more, get songs or stream the entire mix on Indie Rock Cafe
"This generation rules the nation!" Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike samples the lyrics from Musical Youth's "Pass The Dutchie" which was one of the more popular reggae songs ever. These guys are known for their high energy - not only in their tracks, but in their live performances. Usually, Dimitri and Mike come out with positive and sunny remixes, however this song has a dark and devilish drop. We are huge fans of the switch up, keep them coming boys! Purchase: Beatport
"This generation rules the nation" is the mantra from Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike's collaborative debut on Size – one that will surely be heard chanted on dance floors around the world soon enough.WATCH THE OFFICIAL GENERATION X TEASER VIDEOFusing reggae-style vocals with pounding electro house drums and buzzing synths, Generation X is a high-octane thrill ride from start to finish. These two have been sitting around for a while. I've been back and forth on posting them but they ended up growing on me and so here we are. I've posted The Dean's List before but without a proper introduction. Long story short (I need sleep) they're a trio out of Boston, Massachusetts and literally blew up out of no where with their acclaimed mixtape The Drive In . Sonny Shotz is the rapper of the trio, the other two primarily produce. Check out their site for free music and more. [...]

Generation X were a British Punk band that featured Billy Idol (vocals), Tony James (bass), Bob "Derwood" Andrews (guitar) and Mark Laff on drums. After releasing two albums of the Punk Rock variety Generation X in 1977 and the Ian Hunter produced Valley of the Dolls in 1979, which showed the band expanding their sound into a more heavy Rock style, disagreements arose amongst the band members. Some wanted to continue moving into heavy Rock territory while some wanted to stay true to their Punk roots. It should also be noted that Generation X were never [...]
Covers of "White Wedding," "Eyes without a Face," "Rebel Yell," and more!

William Michael Albert Broad. Doesn't exactly roll off the tongue now does it? Once upon a time there was an English rocker in a band called Generation X. They had this great cover of "Gimme Some Truth" by John Lennon, but they also had this single called "Dancing With Myself" co-written by some guy named, ironically enough, Billy Idol, and Tony James. The band lasted maybe five years and change, but it had some interesting characters in it. There were roughly two incarnations of Generation X, but their personnel are linked to such Punk and Alternative royalty as The Clash, Gene Loves Jezebel, [...]

Well kids, we had 2 years to fix the fuck-ups of Dubya. And despite great progress (national health, the end of old style lobbying, a President that actually CARES about people and not as much about corporations), our brilliantly impatient nation is about to shit through an entire gaggle of morons into office that will gum up the political works for the next two years. Then, in 2012, The Repugnikkkans will be able to point to the political clusterfuck they [...]

Filed under: News , Exclusive , New Music Billy Idol looks, sings and sneers just like he did when he first broke onto MTV, and there's a reason he's stuck around a lot longer than many of his '80s contemporaries. "People have a very romantic view of the 1980s," Idol tells Spinner when asked about the longevity of his career. "In music, you must weed out a lot of the novelty and one-hit wonders and what [...]
