Funk legend George Clinton (Funkadelic, Parliament) is 70 years old. When you see a 70-year-old linking up with a rapper for a new mixtape, you probably have some reservations. Keep in mind though, we're talking about this guy . Clinton's funky shit, when combined with Aleon Craft's southern flow, has Mothership, The Decatur Connection playing out something like Outkast in outerspace. If that doesn't sound cool to you, you're a lost cause, and you don't deserve to see 2012. After one listen, the whole thing is solid, but "Make It Out" is a good entry [...]

Give this a listen. I was expecting a funk influence but this jam has a big blues sound.

Arguably, there would be no modern hip-hop without George Clinton. When he provided the beats for Dr. Dre's breakthrough 1992 album, The Chronic , the G-funk era was born (funked down with a gangsta twist). Fittingly, the artist whose samples have perhaps graced more hip-hop tracks than any other is currently a spokesman for a bill that will redefine copyright law to protect artists against unauthorized sampling. George Clinton Tribute @ Apollo Theater - October 25 Photos : Jeremy Smith Last week at the iconic Apollo in Harlem, Parliment Funkadelic mastermind George Clinton was honored by a few of his old band mates and a number music industry all-stars including Sheila E., Bernie Worrell, Bootsy Collins, Questlove, Paul Shaffer and Vernon Reid. Recently photographer Dalton Blanco went undercover to the Gathering of the Juggalos, adopting the juggalo moniker "D-tox," and alongside his compatriots "LardOG" and "Kev-In-Rock" snapped these shots. You wouldn't peg a George Clinton show as a hotbed of violence, but at a show in Cleveland this weekend, a massive gun fight broke out, and four people were shot in the commotion. One victim even died this weekend, shortly after the show. According to Cleveland Police, shortly after Clinton's set at the nonviolently titled Family Unity in the Park, there were shots fired into the crowd, and police responded quickly since they were there working as crowd control.
