So the Olympics start today, or started today I don't know, one thing I can tell you is I'm not waking up early to watch it. For those of you who need a little incentive or just want to listen to some great dance music form around the world, the people from Great Stuff have gather musicians form around the world to create great dance anthems inspired from the summer games; as a sample of the music they've send me three songs, one from Australia, one from Germany, and one form Tibet. Where to purchase: [...]

I've kept my eyes and ears on everything Sweden's Ella Blixt does as an artist ever since I started this blog over 3 years ago. Actually, I think one of my first posts were about her solo-project Ella Glockenspiel , which later evolved into Bobby Baby . She's always been a true musician, who lives for creating and experimenting with new sounds and new ways to make her wonderful creations come to life. Ella has also been one of the artists who really early understood the power of the internet, and [...]
When it was announced, I thought The Verve headlining Glastonbury Festival was a bit of a weak move - The Verve have been split and silent for years now; Richard Ashcroft's solo output has been the sub-MOR equivalent of dipping your head into a stagnant duck-pond; surely they're doing one more comeback for tax reasons, etc. Watching their headline set on TV, I realised that, fortunately, I was super-wrong. Instead of the expected clunky phoning-in of their 90's hits, they were all the things they used to be, [...]
Gotcha! No, but seriously, despite word from Team Obama on Monday that the non-gate location in Berlin would be selected in the next two days , there has been nary a peep. Meanwhile, speculation runs amok: add to the list of possible sites Rote Rathaus and Siegessäule. At least now we know for sure he'll be landing in Tegel at 11am next Thursday. Thank you Frankfurter Rundschau , that's a relief. UPDATE: the site is set - Siegessäule , Berlin's second most famous phallus.

Have I told anyone how much I enjoy being a Blogger, ever since I put down an email for people to contact I've been getting so many good stuff I've actually have been able to blog from Monday to Friday, too bad its only little ol' me, because it can be really time consuming. Yesterday I got an email on this German Electro Punk band MIT and I got hard just listening to them; their sound is hard pounding, with lots of energy, so much in fact that although I received two remix of their latest single Rauch [...]

20 - BAND OF HORSES - Cease To Begin B.O.H. slows down a lot with Cease To Begin. I find they leaned more towards an alt/country sound then the more rockin "Everything All The Time" (last years album, ranked #4 on last years list)....These arn `t bad things, and I believe this record has a lot of emotion.....I just dug their last record more.. 19 - RADIOHEAD [...]

Welsh ragamuffin collective Los Campesinos! have had a festival-filled Summer of 2007, what with playing Glastonbury in their native UK last month and Hillside and Lollapalooza more locally and recently, so a cozy, free show at the Horseshoe on Tuesday night almost certainly qualified as a change of scenery. Based on the profile of their recent shows and their signing to local powerhouse label Arts & Crafts in North America, the curious were out in full force to see what the hubub was about, but before that they had to get through the Germans [...]

Yeah....another weekend of wackyness....Tonight will be exciting...If your in the London area, please be sure to stop by Call The Office for a night with Handsome Furs , Two Hours Traffic , and the Germans . I`ve been raving about this years albums by Two Hours Traffic and Germans , and am super duper excited to see em live. Oh and I totally fell [...]
Germans are good old fashioned indie rock and they do it so well. They write well crafted tunes on a par with the greats such as Pavement and Dinosaur jr. Nice electro sounds in there too. Germans - I Am the Teacher Tunes at Myspace Germans - I Am the Teacher (video)
Two days after mentioning my relatively recent fixation on melodic, riff-heavy guitar-rock, I found myself on all fours at 11:30 on a Friday night-hey now-trying to retrieve whatever it was I noticed underneath my couch. As it turns out, it was melodic, riff-heavy guitar-rock. There's a lot of Dinosaur , Sonic Youth , and Pavement in Germans ' off-key disaffection and decidedly un-bombastic licks, and that's fine: Early 90s lo-fi is a million times better than Tapes And Tapes and The Silversun Pickups anyway. And to think I've been sitting on this [...]

Download: Germans - "I Am the Teacher" First things first: no, they're not. They're from Toronto, and they're one of the new bands on Portland-based Arena Rock record. If you were to try to form an opinion of the band based strictly on the picture above, I would not blame you if passed them off as a Napoleon Dynamite joke band. Of course, I would be mad at you for judging a band based on one photograph. Sure, they do for the most part make some light-hearted [...]

So I had the chance to check out Jewish Legends , the Germans , and Sebastien Grainger at Call The Office on Friday night. 3 bands all playing together with different names...kidding, but a lot of them did switch it up.... Sebastien played drums with Jewish Legends as they started off the night.. A lil bit different then what we would hear out of the Tangiers , and that isn`t a bad thing...A little dissapointed that [...]
Zee Germans are coming, not with rifles and guns, but with a canon of sloppy, choppy, and fuzzy indie rock, and a love for Sebadoh, Pavement, and Archers of Loaf. It's not an invasion. It's a revival of the golden sounds of Nineties lo-fi. You know, the good old days of getting stoned on the sofa, eating the whole bag of Cheetos, thinking about doing things, but deciding there's nothing better than getting stoned with Cheetos and Pavement. Germans - I Am The Teacher [ download ] Germans - Tiger Vacuum Bottle [ [...]

Tagged : deep , german , micro house , minimal techno So, we're back from Prague, it was a lovely trip and we have got a very special CD from an old and out of this world street musician, which will hopefully be reviewed here soon, but till then we're gonna continue with some minimal dance stuff. Another keyplayer of the European dance scene is German artist Markus Guentner who recently released "Lovely Society" on Matthias Schaffhauser 's Ware label . [...]
