Ghost Mall From: New York, United States When I posted a track from That Ghost back in March little did I realise that 8 months later I'd still be bringing you ghost related bands. I can;t believe that there are so many plying their trade across the world in 2011. What started as an interesting diversion has turned into a seemingly never ending quest to bring you as many ghost related bands as I can find. Well, for those ghost related completitsts out there, [...]

I've fell off the wagon and deep back into addiction. In some ways, the early life of a band is the best time to check them out. The group is willing to try lots of different ideas while still forming a musical identity. When a band knows what they're going for and still throws in a few curve balls? There's hardly a better way to start. For Ghost Mall , their debut EP, Goons , is part punkish, part anthemic, and part intended lunacy. But it all works, creating a passionate record that isn't only fun to listen to but also sounds like it was fun [...]
September has little value to me beyond the start of football. The weather manages to retain the worst aspects of summer (NYC is 95°F today) as our lifestyles adjust to more focused, goal-driven tasks. Nothing wrong with responsibility, but I'd much prefer to be doing work when it is bitter cold outside. Showing up to [...]

Guess what's happening this weekend? It's my favorite holiday... MY BIRTHDAY. The one day of the year I'm allowed to be extra annoying and make people do what I want them to do. Well, this year, one of the things I really want to make you do is listen to a mix of only songs that I really like. It includes my favorite band of all time (The Beatles, duh) and a song from each band that's playing at my birthday party and other songs that are just generally awesome. [...]
The sound of Ghost Mall is indescribable. But the band, made up of college roommates Pierce, Alex, Cody, and Jimi, give it their best shot. "Garage-y ramshackle pop/ethereal," lead singer Pierce Lightening struggles, attempting to put a label on his own music. With a lead singer named Pierce Lightening, and influences along the lines of "Babes, Springsteen, Comic Books, and Star Wars," listeners are naturally drawn to the quartet.
Daily Doses: Ghost Mall “40 Nugs” From Goons (2010) There are subtleties you can only gain with age, and an honesty you can only have in youth. No matter how you try to hold on, there’s a point where the amount of everyday concerns you have color the world to a point that the black and white view you had when you were young seems naive and laughable. But you might forget that there was a degree of clarity in those black and white moments that was, and is beautiful. [...]

I received this slab of "ethereal punk / ramshackle pop" from New Paltz, NY band, Ghost Mall , who are apparently known for their "broke-fi gunk pop." Listen. Downloadable: 40 Nugs (mp3) Their new EP, Goons was produced by DJ Teenwolf of Ninjasonik fame. And here is the Teenwolf mixtape which was posted over @ bln.kr . Downloadable: SEX DRUGZ N ALCOHOL MIX (mp3) Ghost Mall will be on a split 73 with [...]

As Brooklyn genre-fies with every passing seasonal trend, we sometimes forget that Westchester may be where your Jewish grandma lives in assisted living, and Ulster County may be where you keep your cows, but both remain places where the kid's music stays rough and tumble rock-based. After all, Westchester's where the kids in Fiasco first played in various punk bands, and remains a hotbed for SUNY campuses and house shows that may be best known for breeding Wham City but a...

This is what we long for: building weak walls in creaky floors And going to leave while they become debris and windows and doors are left crumbling This is what we long for: awkward waltzes on kitchen floors And going to sleep on sands of the beach, just the waves to wipe our sleepy eyes No Lemon No Melon [...]
