It's come – POP Kult Week 3 has arrived and it's headlined by the talented Gigamesh this week, with Sta & myself leading the way. Very excited – CHANGE OF VENUE for those who've come out before, it's at 99 Sudbury this time, a nice reno – much louder and plenty of space to throw down (at 10pm at least, no promises after that). If you're looking for advanced tickets hit me up on facebook.com/electblake or guestlist at listed@earmilk.com (details both below) also, there are online at ticketweb.ca [...]

Great party track from new DC resident Lightwaves. It sounds like Ghosthustler, Daft Punk and Futurecop! all thrown into a blender. I think this guy could be could do really cool things in DC. I know my work out mix just got a little bit better. Check him out in DC [...]

mp3: FUR - Polybreak FUR is back with another tripped-out gem, this time with new collaborator/member Gray St. Germain Gideon (previously of Ghosthustler ). Like a sonic dreamscape, "Polybreak" is spacey mind funk that recalls the glory days of trip-hop. "Polybreak" is available as a digital 73, backed with the Letherette remix of "Friends". You can grab both tracks for free at Waaga Records .

FUR has a new single on Waaga Records . Oh and this time around Bryce Isbell has been working with Gray St. Germain Gideon whom you may know from Ghosthustler . We were recently contacted with the results of the collaboration. This is the A side of the new single. It is filled with awesome beats and weirdness. Listen. Downloadable: Polybreak (mp3) Grab the b-side over @ Waaga Records . FUR is on Myspace FUR is on Facebook FUR is [...]

On Monday, ex-Ghosthustler Noah Jackson's newest musical project LOVELIFE popped up on Hipster Runoff's The Alt Report. Read the full post here for a fine dose of humor, because in typical HRO fa... Continue reading "Bonus MP3: Kimberly -- "Sociopath"" >

While probably not the exact origin, I like to think of the short-lived group Ghosthustler as one of the main forerunners of the current Chillwave craze. Headed by Alan Palomo, who currently goes by Neon Indian and VEGA (perhaps you've heard of them?), Ghosthustler has those ethereal, dream-like vocals down along with some crunchy, sci-fi synths. Not quite as dreamy as Neon Indian or Toro y Moi, Ghosthustler really begins to hint at those atmospheric synths on tracks like Only Me to Trust. They still crank out some jams like Busy Busy Busy, one of my favorites. Ghosthustler no longer [...]
![Alan Palomo [What A Genius]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/2243367_lg.jpg)
Damn, I miss Ghosthustler! They delivered powerful, influential beats that swallowed me up in my first year of university. Everything I came across was mint. But to my demise, the band disappeared to the depths of history. Yet, Alan Palomo continues to spread the original vibe through his solo alias VEGA , and in the relatively new project in Neon Indian. Palomo's original stuff in Ghosthustler- like the new stuff he touches today, is wow, excessively good and simply revolutionary. So with that we recap the newest from each, all while giving [...]

You might have noticed that on my best songs of the year post I omitted any of the Neon Indian's 09 masterpiece "Psychic Chasms", the reasons for this intentioned omission is because Neon Indian is in my opinion artist of the year 2009. In a world where music air waves are saturated with garbage like Lady Gaga and Adam Lambert, it is always nice to know that true artists with innovative ideas and originality can actually swim afloat the layer of scum and antics record companies are trying to force feed us. Neon Indian Psychic [...]

Last night I was able to see the blogosphere's biggest/brightest rising star, Neon Indian , in concert. I was impressed in a multitude of ways. I like to think they are the originators of the newest scene/sound in music (the 70s-inspired-nostalgia-fueled- cassette tape-distortion-loving-dance-r ock), and seeing them live proved that besides being the innovators of the sound, they also do it the best. All their songs took on a new life, filled with more energy and less distortion (but just as much delay). Despite an all ages crowd that seemed uncomfortable with moving their limbs, [...]
We continue our Fun Fest interviews today with a few questions and answers from now local Neon Indian. We had the chance to speak with founding member and mastermind of the group Alan Palomo. We talk to Alan about his new project, his work with VEGA , and what his future plans are in this crazy musical world he lives in. Follow the jump for to read this really fun interview. And no, we don't ask him about video games... ATH : [...]

Alan Palomo goes by some pretty rad alias' whether it be Ghosthustler, VEGA or Neon Indian. Now we've gabbed a fair deal on Neon Indian along with everyone and their aunt (and even Charlie Gibson ), so we're psyched to be giving away tickets to catch the live show on November 20 at the Echoplex in Los Angeles. Want a pair? Shoot an email to noah@thefmly.com with something you'd like to see in neon (tombstones, shoes, hula hoops, etc)! Neon Indian - Deadbeat Summer The Silent League - Here's [...]

Neon Indian is proof positive that the digital age has delivered an endless string of variations on the "one-man synth-pop band" motif. Combining the hazy remoteness and gauzy filtering of Washed Out with the giddy drum programming and out-there sound effects of a thrift-store Todd Rundgren , 21-year-old Tejano Alan Palomo has delivered a lo-fi pop gem in Psychic Chasms , out now on Lefse Records. In his latest guise as Neon Indian — following releases under the names Ghosthustler and VEGA — [...]

Suicide Sundaes – stop your grinnin' and drop your linen. Every Sunday electblake and jsully of Earmilk will bring you the weeks dirty servings, and some old favorites through a throwdown-throwback to simpler times. A time when bangers were big, remixes were bigger, the bassline bled, and we didn't care about anything as long as came in kicking and left screaming. To hell with sketchy sunday, we want to shove another dragon down the hole. This week we bring you more from our boy HAEZER and crowd [...]
