Musicsnobbery went to a bachelor party this past weekend and found himself suddenly in charge of tunes for the stripper. Some M.I.A. [a five-song kickstart to his set] followed by some DFA love and a few other choice tracks. Not sure what I'd have thought of 'on the fly'. Probaly that "I am a Pirate" song I posted earlier today . Here are some more fun mp3s to strip to, or so I'd imagine. Yeti Stripper Mix Ghostland Observatory - [...]

I found out that today is one of our Baltimore reader's birthday. I have been wanting to do a mix for awhile now, so I thought that this would be a great opportunity. This mix is basically inspired by some of her favorites and is mostly older material. It's nice, because this is some stuff that I haven't been able to get to much recently and it is a nice break from all of this ACL coverage. Our readers mean everything to us, so Happy Birthday. We wish you the best! [...]

Rock Insider turned me onto this duo from Austin, Texas, last week. Ghostland Observatory consists of vocalist/guitarist Aaron Behrens and producer/beat-maker Thomas Turner. Musically they mix electronica, rock, and funk reminiscent of such artists as Daft Punk or Prince. mp3: Ghostland Observatory - Sad Sad City mp3: Ghostland Observatory - Piano Man The band will be in town this weekend for a couple of gigs: Friday, 8/18/06 [...]

Last night, Oliver and I made the trek out to Glendale to see Ghostland Observatory . I saw this incredible twosome more than a year ago at Gothamist's Movable Hype 3.0 with Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. It was a great show largely due to Ghostland's incredible set that blew me and the rest of the audience away. For whatever reason, CYHSY is indie level huge and Ghostland is still playing small clubs. I am not complaining, but would love to see these guys blow up. We unfortunately got there super late [...]
FEATURED ARTIST: GHOSTLAND OBSERVATORY official site myspace [MP3] Ghostland Observatory - Piano Man [MP3] Ghostland Observatory - Sad Sad City My friend Greg turned me on to Ghostland Observatory several months ago. I took one listen to "Piano Man" and that was it for me. What a tremendous track. It doesn't get much better than when the beat finally drops and frontman Aaron Behrens' shaky yet
Thunderstorms have been rolling through the Chicagoland area since yesterday evening, so hopefully the weather will cool down a little for Lollapalooza this weekend. That would be a very good thing after more than a week of 95+ degree days. I'd like to know which of you out there are actually going to Lollapalooza? I know that MOKB Dodge will be there, but what about you? Let me know and I'll see you there. Oh yeah, check out Blues Traveler's interesting cover of The Clash. Hmmm.... [...]
There was once a time, not too long ago, that I made at least one mix CD a week for myself. Sadly my recent schedule has not allowed this weekly mix making to continue so I was happy when I had the time to make a Happy Booty Bugaloo Trip the Light Fantastic Dance mix yesterday. Here's about half of it. Ghostland Observatory - Sad Sad City Ghostland Observatory - Piano Man Peter Bjorn and John - Young Folks [...]

Typically, I'm not a huge fan of electro-tinged stuff, but this song does a little something for me. Based out of Austin, Ghostland Observatory play some funky electronica kind of stuff.... more polished than my normal preferences (for example, I like DFA / LCD Soundsystem stuff has some more dirt on it). But this song here has a little Rapture in it, a feel of desperation, a wanting; that's what makes it good. ::: Ghostland Observatory - Sad Sad City [...]

We love Ghostland Observatory here at HMH. I've been meaning to check these guys out, but I always got caught up in something and ended up missing out. Now, I'm glad to say they'll be performing again this Saturday. I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!! The anticipation kills me. Ghostland Observatory is not a band- it's two guys creating music that not only thrives from their beat driven hearts, but also quenches their thirst to rock n fucking roll. And for those of you that have gotten to see them live, I'm sure you can tell us how the show was [...]

Today we have some new tracks for you guys! Aren't you excited? Dave Wrangler has been spinning all over the place, and I don't know why we didn't come across him sooner. Well you learn new things everyday. So Mr. Dave Wrangler has sent us some tracks and I must say they're pretty fucking jam. Some of you probably know who he is already he's back and forth from Houston to Austin. But for those of you who don't here's a brief bio of this man. dave wrangler [...]
