With a week of awesome weather (not just for Seattle, I mean period .) comes a very back-heavy bevy of both shows to go peruse and enjoy. Hump Day sees Buffalo Death Beam , Yarn , Red Heart Alarm occupying the Tractor; Thursday, Sunset Tavern hosts a set by Ramona Falls , Land of Pines , and Natural Selection while Deadkill , Grenades , Battle Stations , and Strap Straps plays Neumo's. Friday, though, is Hood to Hood 2012 , the festivities of [...]
Three venues. A handful of bands. And it's literally impossible to enjoy all the potential music you could be enjoying in one night. Do you want to try to find out everyone's stage time (because you know...rock and roll is like clockwork) and calculate how many songs you can see being performed by the bands you prefer the [...]

Seattle based singer songwriter Sam Watts (Ghosts I've Met) has a new EP he has available at his live shows. The EP "The Light Opera" has just started in rotation over at Local legend/radio station KEXP as well, so keep an ear out there as well. The collection of tracks can be purchased from Sam directly if you are not able to make a local show (please email us and we can get you in touch if you were looking to pick up a copy) and it is still so new that it has no artwork! The EP [...]
With protesters being cleared out by tear gas and bean bag bullets in Oakland and Occupy encampments spread across cities all over the world as I type this, it feels as if the world is on the edge of something big and hopefully something better. And I, for one, want to do more than sit [...]
One of the things I love most about a sad song is: they sound good all year long. In Seattle, summer anthems feel appropriate about 3 months of the year (if we're lucky) and the rest of the year, those upbeat, dance tracks that I loved in August seem to taunt me. Not so with [...]
A little self promotion is never bad. Right? RIGHT? So my little label over at Yer Bird Records is starting a trend in having at least one long weekend 2 for 1 special each year on all our wares and it is happening right now. Purchase the new Hezekiah Jones LP? Why not have the new Ghosts I've Met LP thrown in for good measure? Yeah, its great stuff. LPs, CDs and digital downloads - its the wild west over there this weekend. See our home page on the label site HERE for more information! [...]

Wonderfully laid back melancholic indie-folk from Ghosts I've Met, led by singer-songwriter Sam Watts this is the debut long player from the band centred around Watts, who calls on a revolving cast of talent for support on his recordings - on this album contributions come from Jenna Conrad (Damien Jurardo, Pearly Gate Music), Faustine Hudson (Pearly Gate Music), Bill Patton (J. Tillman, Pearly Gate Music), Anne Marie Ruljancich (Jesse Sykes, The Shins), Seth Warren (Damien Jurardo, Red Stars Theory), Brittain Ashford (Brittain Ashford) and Ben Blankenship (Modest Mouse). Best enjoyed in the twilight hours, let the reflective songs [...]

Even though it's stormed like hell so far it seems like May is going to be a great month. Allo Darlin- The Polaroid Song I'm yet to find a song by Allo Darlin' that i don't absolutely love. Such a great band to put me in a good mood and motivate me to go out and enjoy my life. Thao witht he get down stay down- bag of hammers Lovett- The Fear [...]

Out now on Yer Bird Records , Ghosts I've Met's From A Spark is a beautiful, poignant debut album that finds singer-songwriter Sam Watts at the peak of his talent. The debut LP, which features guests such as Jenna Conrad (Damien Jurardo), Anne Marie Ruljancich (The Shins), and Ben Blankenship (Modest Mouse), unfurls slowly in a wash of deeply-textured atmospheres that pull the listener deep into intimate reflection. The effect is instant and striking, unfurling as it does like a rainy day with nothing but the view, some tea, and silence for company. [...]

*Artwork by Sam Richardson Newest album out on our label Yer Bird Records is from Sam Watts out of Seattle and his debut full length from his musical moniker of Ghosts I've Met entitled "From A Spark"! If you read Slowcoustic and are old school, you will know that I have been following GIM for a few years and well before we ran a music label and now we are working with him to get more of his music out there, and we couldn't be prouder of this album. From A Spark is more [...]
And the hardest part was falling down the stairs gracefully... Sounds a lot like life to me. :-) Check out this beautiful song from Ghosts I've Met posted by the discerning authors of Those Who Dig . The full album drops this Tuesday, April 12. This post is mostly a test of whether my 5-minute effort to embed a music player worked. If I've failed then please pardon my construction efforts and know I'll get back to them some time this summer. Busy times here and ahead. [...]
![[MP3] Ghosts I've Met: "Blackwoods"](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3353372_lg.jpg)
Everyone needs a soft Sunday night tune to wind down their weekends and prepare for the likely grueling week ahead. There's typically no better way to do that than listen to a Slowcoustic artist (keep reading), and true to form, we've got Ghosts I've Met's "Blackwoods" to ring in your ears. Ghosts I've Met is the project of Seattle singer/songwriter Sam Watts, and he's set to release his newest album From A Spark this Tuesday, April 12. The album will drop via Yer Bird Records , which is, indeed, our friend Sandy's label (he [...]
Have been going through my inbox and having a listen to a few tracks that have landed over the last week or so, more folks seem to be making use of SoundCloud so here's a quartet that caught my attention. Starting with a lovely minimalist piece of indie-folk from the Yer Bird stable here's a track from Ghosts I've Met from there upcoming release From A Spark Here's a track from troubadour Grayson Capps Ol' Slac (& The Mobile Mardi [...]
Spring is supposed to be here. It most certainly has not come yet. We keep being teased with 65 and sunny, only to be followed two days later with snow covering the ground. And the rain, man. Come on with this rain. Anyways, Ghosts I've Met are dropping a new album, From A Spark , next Tuesday the 12th and the lead-off track soundtracks my feelings about life and weather at the moment. Ghosts I've Met - Blackwoods

Great show last friday at The Columbia City Theater featuring Sera Cahoone. Ghost's I've met led by Indie folk artist Matt Watts, opened the night with some delicate and beautiful songs backed only by Faustine Hudson's unique and eclectic percussive sounds.(washboards ,floor tom, bird caller...ect) The set remained appropriately sparse and intimate. From what I've heard of Watts latest release Payphone Patience E.P, I'd say it's worth checking out. He's at the top of his game in this particular genre. It features Darren Jessee of Hotel Lights, and can be found at Yerbird records . [...]

Hey, everyone! Happy New Year! I hope that you have a good one, and that you're surrounded by good food, friends, and music. It's been a long year over here (the epic dissertation struggle continues), and I haven't always been the most attentive (you're top of the list of New Year's Resolutions!)... but I wanted to thank everyone for all their love and support. I've been positively blown away by the amount of excellent music that has been sent my way, and the... well, legitimacy, I seem to have stumbled into. So, in 2011, I'll be stepping up [...]

Yer Bird Records update time! In our other Slowcoustic life over at Yer Bird Records things are happening, I mean really happening. Being a small music label, we thought we might enjoy a slower "holiday" season to relax but apparently we like to start making arrangements for album releases over one of the busiest times of the year for shipping, vacations and the like. Well oiled machine I tell ya. ~~ I want to start off with our next release coming up [...]

Just what is folk music? Is it soft-spoken, intimate confessions poured out over an acoustic guitar? Is it "We Shall Overcome," sung on the National Mall? Is it ever playful? Joyful? Does it do something other than teach? Can it be "pop?" Clearly, the answers to these questions are subjective, but at their core is a common notion: "Folk" music is "apart" from other music. There is something different about the folk singer - that mythic figure of storytelling and poetic wisdom. But is that really true? [...]
