Ghosts of Venice treat us to some hearty, upbeat disco with a special guest on vocals. And like I love to point out with every song I post of his, Josh Jakq reminds me too much of Justin Timberlake. However, the tables have turned this time around when I heard a song playing it instantly reminded me of Josh Jakq's voice and it turned out to be none other than JT's. But besides my not-so brilliant insight that's probably been pointed out to him too much already, it's nice to hear Jakq change up his work from [...]

Something new from Ghosts Of Venice , My Love is a tribute to the 902s Filter House tracks we all know and love.

Chicago based producer Lee Dunn aka. Ghosts of Venice is back with a great two track EP just in time for spring/summer titled My Love . The title track "My Love" features male vocals by Aussie Josh Jak with a great uplifting funky Nu Disco beat. The B side of the EP "High Fives and 909s" is a bit more chill with more of that classic disco feel (where are those parachute pants ...?). These tracks are supported by  Treasure Fingers, Don Rimini, Moon Boots, Grum, Solidisco, and Acid Washed to name a few. After [...]

If you're in Miami this week for the coveted WMC gathering, I suggest hitting up the Chicago-repping Stripped & Chewed Records showcase. Enjoy all-vinyl sets from The Black Madonna, Garrett David, Ghosts of Venice, Studio Casual and Adam Rowe. Get there between 10 and 11pm to enjoy the open bar. To get you properly prepared, the good folks at Societe Perrier called upon The Black Madonna to illustrate what's to come of the evening. If her mix is any indication, y'all are in for a good 'ol deep crate session. Wednesday, March 20 @ [...]

By Eric Cahan  (cropped) Chicago might be cold as shit right now but I assure you that come Friday, the temperature at Smart Bar will be comfortably raised. Not because of a heating system, although that will play a part, but rather because New York's Chris Malinchak will be in the place with local support from Ghosts of Venice and Only Children . Honestly just click play on "So Good To Me", close your eyes and feel the weight of the world wash away. I know, I know... See you there. [...]

Heavy disco house is sometimes the best thing to listen to in the morning. The uplifting beat and energetic tempo are like a shot of espresso for the soul. Chicago-based Ghosts of Venice starts this track with what sounds like a textbook house beat, but gradually peels back the sheets to reveal a soulful and infectious groove. If you don't feel this at first, stick around for a while and let it seduce you. At the three minute mark, sampled vocals bring the song to a whole new level. The track came [...]

The 18th mix of our little series comes from recent Chicago transplant Ghosts of Venice . You're probably familiar with his work either from the Second City Rhythm collaboration with Adulture , his involvement in Stripped & Chewed Records or maybe his recent Defected/ Hed Kandi Records releases. If not, this mix really is a great representation of what he's all about: well executed House music. So please, do yourself a favor and put the next 46 minutes of your life on hold to just enjoy this thing. Ghosts of Venice [...]

Here’s the latest release from Italian label La Valigetta to get you in the mood for the weekend. Timo Juuti & Hector 87 provide some truly infections tunes for their ‘Woo Chicks & Disco Wobbelz’ EP. ‘Disco Wobbels’ took me completely by surprise, we get sent a lot of mediocre Electro-House and Nu-Disco, it takes a lot for something we’ve never heard of to grab our attention, but ‘Disco Wobbelz’ did, it’s got a load of elements we’re starting to tire of, but it’s so well done, so funky, so blissed out you can [...]

Cool Italian label La Valigetta is putting out an Ep by Finnish duo Timo Juuti & Hector 87 exclusively on Beatport on March 5. La Valigetta specializes in releasing tracks made for packed, sweaty dancefloors, and this release is no different. The Ep is called "Woo Chicks & Disco Wobbles", and I have to say I like the disco more than the wobbles (you know we are allergic to dubstep), but these guys never let the wobbles get in the way of the great disco flow. Timo Juuti & Hector 87 hails from [...]

You'd think that with a name like Ghosts Of Venice , he'd be from somewhere a bit farther afield than Yorkshire. That's right guys, GOV is homegrown. One of the few big name DJs/producers out there who creates/plays really atmospheric warm fuzzywuzzy house music (none of that minimal bollocks) and he's a Brit. I asked him to go away and put together a mix for us. He came back with forty-five minutes of pure feel good Chicago house for y'all to get down to/jack to/make love to/whatever it is you want to. The last couple of [...]
Well, it’s been a while since we heard anything from the Australian Get Stellar , it seems a bit has changes sine we last took notice, including the act being stripped down to a solo project and a more Housey sound taken on board. His new single ‘My Bassline’ showcases the fact that this isn’t the Get Stellar of ‘This Moment’. ‘My Bassline’ is a sample heavy, filtered slab of Disco House. Its quite a minimal track, but effective. The sweeping filtered riff and the titular bassline serve as the central elements of a track with an [...]
