Auckland surf-rockers Ghost Wave have released the first single off their upcoming LP Ages . “Here She Comes” has the sort of easygoing flow that has us reminiscing about crashing waves attacking the sandy shores during Summertime. With hazed-out vocals, a psych-pop atmosphere soon takes over as the girl of our dreams slowly becomes reality. Ages will be out this Summer on Arch Hill/Flying Nun Records.

Ghost Wave are a four-piece out of Auckland, New Zealand that hit me right smack in the indie pop bliss sweet spot back in 2011 with their track 'Hippy' off their self-titled debut EP release from Arch Hill Records . They just finished a successful jaunt over at SXSW, which I'm sure featured new material on their forthcoming debut LP release for Ages this year. In the meantime, you can check out a version of one of their new tunes, 'Here She Comes' from a Wreckroom [...]

Dig in and enjoy. 20 OF MONSTERS AND MEN - LITTLE TALKS Duelling male / female voices from Iceland's finest and bitter sweet lyrics (only with igloos and saunas instead of pubs and football). Tweet I went on holiday recently. Cromer in fact. Lovely place. If you go to Cromer you must go crabbing. I caught a crab the size of a bear. Seriously, I had to wrestle it for a good 4 hours, I lost an arm in the tussle but it was all worth it. Crab 0 - Me 1. That opening paragraph serves no purpose in this blogpost. None whatsoever. I just wanted to brag (though admittedly a totally fictional brag). Anyhow, where [...]
On earlier releases, Chicago's Mannequin Men favored a classic, trashy punk sound, indebted to the likes of the Stooges and The New York Dolls. Fast forward a few years, to "What's Your Favourite Colour," and one can hear the re-verb heavy, psychedelic style employed by Windy City scenesters The Ponys and Radar Eyes. It's a change that suits them well, for even as the pieces have changed, their most reliable aspect - A strong sense of melody, has remained. If you want a good cheesesteak, you go to Philly. [...]

Hailing from Auckland, New Zealand is the new rock 'n roll trio Ghost Wave. Self-described as landing somewhere between the Flying Nun bands of the 80s, the British explosion of the 1960s and the wayfaring dubs of Lee "Scratch" Perry, Ghost Wave will catch you off guard with their shimmering rock that feels [...]

Ghost Wave From their upcoming self-titled EP, Ghost Wave has made "Sunsetter" available for listening. Check out the tune by the Auckland, NZ-based band in this post. Ghost Wave's EP will be out on August 21, 2012. A full-length album is due in 2013.

Ghost Wave , a three-piece rock outfit out of New Zealand grabbed my attention with "Sunsetter" , a track that will appear on their self-titled EP out 8/21. The track is instantly reminded me of Deerhunter , more specifically in the vocals which seem to take a lot from Bradford Cox's dazed out shimmering croon. You can stream the track below or on their soundcloud page The band will also be making their first appearances in the U.S. on the two dates below: [...]

Ghost Wave are a trio of New Zealanders with a name-appropriate knack for surfy rock that deftly toes a darker edge, not to mention just a general knack for unrelentingly catchy riffage: if either of these things sound at all good to you, check out their newest single “Hippy.” Heavily distorted, chugging guitars don’t mask a simple but smart shimmery riff that sounds like sun glinting off the water, nor those laid-back, day-drunk vocals – we want everything out of our minds too, dude. Here’s 2012’s invincible lo-fi summer jam, the one that fits the fireworks and [...]

XXYYXX characterizes their latest release, "Closer," as "ghostwave." It's an apt description: this abstract, evocative track is a dreamscape, simple and seductive. It's more of a rough sketch than a fully realized vision - there isn't too much variation - but I can easily see this captivating me for more than ten consecutive minutes if the group decided to add in a few more variations (a spirited string quartet at the end would just sound perfect .) 1. Royal Headache - Never Again from Royal Headache ( R.I.P. Society / Goner ) Some records are great without making you want to be a part of them, and that's fine. It doesn't make them less great. But some are so exuberant and rich and alive-sounding that they make you want to sing along to every song at every show and be involved and there's something so special about records like that and what I'm saying is that Royal Headache 's debut album is like that. There [...]
