Sorting through Mariel "Tormentia" Pietrykoski's photos of Gwar at the Starland Ballroom on March 18 made me realize that it's been waaaaay too long since I've seen Gwar live and in their intergalactic flesh. Way too long. Like... Sounds of the Underground, that's how long! Looking through her photos also made me fear for the [...]
At this point, I don't think Municipal Waste really needs an introduction. But I'm going to write one because otherwise there would be nothing to read before the jump. With an energy and sense of humor that rivals Andrew WK x4, the Richmond, VA natives and their thrash/punk partying have been going strong since 2001. [...]
Municipal Waste has been away from the recording studio for three years since their last release, and the band is now back with their fifth studio album - the first with Nuclear Blast - entitled The Fatal Feast. Keep your eyes peeled for the release, out in the U.S. & Canada on April 10th, and in ...
Man, Austin, TX really knows how to party. Between South by Southwest and now Chaos in Tejas, downtown Austin must have a ton of whiskey puke on it's streets. This year's Chaos In Tejas lineup looks pretty fucking metal as well, with performances announced by Nasum, Moss Icon, Saint Vitus, Best Coast, Drop Dead, The ...
Few things are more important to the life of a touring metal band than a good van. I'm being completely serious. This is a cause of, like, such magnitude that it should have its own annual benefit show, like Farm Aid or Jerry's Kids or Ozzfest. These vehicles are usually old pieces of shit that break down [...]
In the mysterious and disturbing country of Creepsylvania, times seem to be just as hard as they are in the States. You see, our favorite mutant residents of this distant land, Ghoul, are in desperate need of a new tour van and with their trek with Gwar on the horizon, time is of the essence. ...
Not content with just one tour this spring with their friends in Municipal Waste, legendary shock metal masters GWAR have announced a second leg of their Spring tour with stoner jammers Kylesa in tow, in addition to Ghoul and Legacy Of Disorder . That's quite an interesting combo. This is a short run of dates ...
Those mighty scum sucking space dogs in GWAR recently announced not only that they were doing a massive tribute concert for their fallen guitarist, Cory Smoot, but that they'd soon be embarking on a tour with Municipal Waste and Ghoul. Which is, like, the perfect line-up for a GWAR tour. 'Cause if you split GWAR's [...]
The first Cory Smoot memorial show, benefitting The Smoot Family Fund, was, by all accounts, a huge success (see footage from the concert here). So it's no surprise that the band has announced a second memorial show, which will probably be an even bigger success, given that not only are GWAR themselves headlining, but they're [...]
While Oderus broke the story to us a few weeks ago on the Livecast that GWAR is hitting the road this Spring with Municipal Waste, today it was made official. Ghoul and Suppression will be providing support throughout the trek. GWAR has also announced that the kickoff to the tour will be another benefit show ...
This got me to thinking, if you were to pitch a web-browser against an undead creature, how would one determine the victor? Pages cached versus limbs severed? Bookmarks stored against humans tainted? It hurts my brain too much to think of, so I'm going to spin this glowing remix from Ghoul instead. Unexpectedly jolly. More Firefox AK here . On their latest album, Oakland's Ghoul offers a gory and sorta hilarious set of tracks that feel like extreme metal's equivalent to a Toxic Avenger movie. WATCH THE REVIEW
Transmission Zero by Ghoul Out now on Tankcrimes , here is the latest album from Oakland band Ghoul: Transmission Zero . I know Halloween has come and gone, but these guys make me wish it came more than once a year. Though this group's influences are tried and true, they bring them together into a surprisingly fresh combination of punk, death metal, thrash metal, and surf rock. It's cartoony, fun, and perfect for all the Misfits and Gwar fans out there.

photo credit: craigCloutier One of the reasons I started this blog was to share music. To be honest, I have been horrible at it lately. Today that changes (at least for today). Besides, Soundcloud makes it so damn easy to share and embed music that there really isn't an excuse. Chief Ghoul Today, check out Chief Ghoul from Chicago. Distorted acoustic guitar, distorted haunting vocals and I am really diggin on this. To be honest I wasn't crazy about the production at first but the songs quickly made [...]

I love this show. Really.
This is one of those the house is colder than outside sort of morning. I put on my sweatshirt, roused Gracie, slipped my feet into warm slippers and came downstairs. The temperature is 58°, a lot cooler than the last few days. I'm glad I put in the storm door. I'm watching 19332s The Ghoul. It's has all the wonderful characteristics those old horror movies always have. Two women have spent a great deal of the film screaming or swooning. The female star managed both, one after the other. I guess it was that dual combination ability which [...]
