Northern Virginia-based doom-rock outfit KING GIANT are currently in the final mixing and mastering stages for their upcoming sophomore full-length, Dismal Hollow , currently being slated for release by Autumn 2011. In March of this year, the five members of KING GIANT entered legendary Inner Ear Studios (Minor Threat, Fugazi, Avail, Jawbox, etc.) to take their thunderous doom-bred Southern rock to the next level on their sophomore full-length; the follow-up to their acclaimed debut album, Southern Darkness . The band [...]

There are new bands that show potential - where you feel that despite not quite achieving what they set out to do they show enough promise to keep you interested in their future endeavours - then there are bands that arrive on the scene sounding so fully-formed you wonder how it is that they're only just setting out on their journey. Young The Giant belong firmly in the latter category. The Californian quintet arrive in Bristol off the back of a bunch of sold-out shows back home in The States and a recent Jools Holland performance; [...]
The Mission Map Project from Agency Charlie on Vimeo . Glad we have creative people in San Francisco who think outside the box. In a age where everything is digital, its people like Mike Giant who bring something new to the table. Feeling this!

When I saw this song in our inbox I'll admit I laughed a bit to myself. Two bands that are responsible for rather divergent popular opinions, neither have received a particularly strong critical response to their work. What no one will deny is that both are quite adept at formulating songs that are often disturbingly...

AUDIOVISUALS/// Young the Giant - My Body Fresh from their recent Jools Holland performance (and what a performance !) this Californian band are gearing up to unleash their new single. Out next Monday, the song itself is an epic, bass-driven four minutes, and there’s a slick (mainly) performance-based video to go along with it. On a related note, there seems to be a bit of a theme developing on MFM as of late: Young the Giant are playing The Great Escape tomorrow. If you’re going, heed our advice and check out a band who [...]

6am Repeat is a recurring feature here at Folk Hive in which we stream the latest track that plays incessantly in the earbuds when we awake at that hour and imbibe massive amounts of coffee and cigarettes in preparation for the advancing day. Consider it your jam of the day — a sweet, sweet gift from me to you. I love you, dude. Best song about drugs and love with a mini-choir in the background there that I've heard in a long fucking time. [...]

A Tree Falls Productions , our little house concert series here in rural Massachusetts, has grown since we first presented Danny Schmidt in our living room, and so has its reputation: both of the headline performers for our upcoming Spring/Summer season concerts came to us, making booking as easy as checking the calendar and saying "yes, please!" Our newest performing space, a restored hundred year old carriage house just up the road, has ample room for 50+, and for our increasingly infamous potluck meals, and we're eager to fill the house, the better to support [...]

Ever notice how Mother's Day takes precedence over Father's Day? It's a much more important holiday for some reason. Actually we all know why it's more important don't we? Most of us naturally just get more attention from their mothers than they did from their fathers. Fathers were out making the doughnuts I guess. It isn't so much like now as it was when I grew up, but a home just suffers without the presence of a good mom. My own father was a good man at the end of the day, but I feel like life just steamrolled him while [...]

Its not often that we post the same track twice on the Daily Dose (although I did recently, by mistake), and we don't post many remixes. But when I came upon this I felt I had to share it with you, as its a track by a band we've featured before, remixed by another band we've featured on the Network. Have a listen, and then compare it to the original . Download My Body (Two Door Cinema Club Remix) [...]

Every year Cinco de Mayo rolls around and every year I seem to have to Google the date and figure out why we are drinking. As drinking holidays go, and frankly they're all drinking holidays aren't they?, Cinco de Mayo is probably number three behind St Patrick's Day and New Year's Eve. I mean everybody who drinks consumes a little something something on Marathon Day (a beautiful hack holiday in Boston known as Patriot's Day), Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Let's be honest. But Cinco de Mayo is a fun holiday. A time [...]
Despite the ongoing issues with the lockout and whether there will be a season in 2011, the NFL draft went as scheduled last weekend, and even though the New York Jets take most of the attention because of their fanbase, the Giants were the ones who emerged as the Big Apple winners, especially on the defensive side of the ball. The Giants really bolstered their secondary when cornerback Prince Amukamara was available with the No.19 pick, and they’re going to work him into the team as a number of their defensive backs are getting [...]

I adore Young The Giant and T wo Door Cinema Club . Based on that tidbit of information, I was ecstatic to find that Two Door remixed our favorite song of last year, “My Body”. The new mix adds a disco/groovy vibe to proceedings. I’m glad the chorus still has the hard hitting energy, something that made the original so appealing.

Yes! I'm so stoked that this happened! I love Young the Giant. I love Two Door Cinema Club. I am quite content about this remix. I hope everyone enjoys it as well. Free download of the track available on We Are Hunted . Young The Giant - My Body (Two Door Cinema Club Remix) Share and Enjoy:

There's something to the original track by Young the Giant that has me begging for more, but TDCC puts a little of that Irish goodness the band is known for to answer my call.Young the Giant recently finished their epic US tour and the band has left many fans with eargasms. Check out the remix by Two Door Cinema Club and the original after the jump and let us know which one is better. Young the Giant - My Body (TDCC Remix)

Giant Princess Kills: Sidekick4G National Battle of the Bands Contest is a post from Indie Houston - Music - Technology - Press - Independent - Media - Houston, Texas Giant Princess played earlier today at Warehouse Live for T-Mobile's Nationwide Battle of the Bands show which celebrates the release of the new Sidekick4G. Some cool highlights about the 'show' (and I mean show loosely because it was also some sort of a T-Mobile Sales team seminar) was that during the Q [...]

It’s endetarmsabning – which we’re told means “rad.” Rolling Stone “a swank sound that calls to mind the soulful ‘70s –brassy horns, psychedelic effects, and a healthy dose of Technicolored funk…sunny hits, perfect for daytime dance parties.” [...]

Young the Giant sound like the kind of band that could be huge in the UK with the right amount of commercial radio exposure and just a bit of luck
