Last night was the first night of CMJ, and the party was poppin' in Billyburg. As soon as you got out of the L at Bedford, there was nothing but crowds of young folk checking out all the great music coming from the bars, and to boot it was an amazin' night to be out. My destination for the night was Spike Hill, the band, Gigantic Hand . Gigantic Hand is an indie rock band from NY on the Triple Down Label. Gigantic Hand began in 2003 as an acoustic reserve sowed by Kris [...]

So, I was able to catch Browns' show at the narrow slice of venue that is Bruar Falls . A part of Northside Fest , the show was at 3pm on a Sunday. It was not crowded. The Coney Island was delicious. Gigantic Hand - "SuAnne Big Crow" . I wonder if you know this feeling: You're like a building with the foundations blown out, still upright but all the struts and supports weakened, all the everything ready to go, ready to collapse. You feel like that; hollow. You go down to the subway and stand on the platform feeling grey and paper-thin. The ventilation shushes. And then suddenly, thwackkkkkkk , a subway-car slams into the station, slaps into the station, flies past you volatile & violent and it's like you've just been shoved. You rock back on your heels and [...]
