The Jezabels are a great band that you have to see live and they proved it, along with Hey Rosetta! and Giggle Party at Rickshaw Stop.

Giggle Party are four friends in Dallas who play spastic dance punk sung with frantic group vocals. The band's songs are straight forward anthems featuring quirky vocals with tongue in cheek lyrical content ranging in subject from death to the perils of having a corporate job. Giggle Party self released the EP "The Holes In Your face Are Pleasing" which earned the band nominations for "best new band" in Dallas by the Dallas Observer and The Dallas Quick (The Dallas Morning News). The band released the albums first single "Jason Bought A Hatchet" with an animated music [...]

This was originally supposed to be a free 'Bacardi Live Tour' when I first heard about it, but as time got closer to the date of the scheduled show (which was listed on last.fm and M&K's web site) there was still no ticket or RSVP information so we all wondered what the hell was going on. Well apparently it ended up that they canceled the B-Live part of it and Matt & Kim quickly announced a show at the HOB Cambridge Room and tickets went on sale about a week before the actual show. They made reference themselves [...]
A while back we hipped you guys to the greatness of Giggle Party and their murderously fantastic single "Jason Bought a Hatchet". Earlier this week the aforementioned Jason sent me a link to the video for the song. Co-directed by Damien Weighill who has done much of the band's artwork previously, and illustrator Stephen Wake, the video captures the essence of the song perfectly. Featuring drumming Darth Vader's, keyboarding skeletons, guitarring nuns, and dancing robots, I get the feeling it is precisely what goes on at a live Giggle Party show. It also confirms everything we said before: [...]

More and more of the most hype indie rockers have been making appearances on Yo Gabba Gabba and other similar shows adored by the ever-growing population of the infant children of hipsters, and as the trend grows we are rewarded with more and more tunes that sound (lyrics aside) like they could easily be geared towards children. Case in point, "Jason Bought a Hatchet" by local band Giggle Party . This song has everything a hipster baby could want: spelling, counting, group shouts, and some mass murder for good measure. That song, as well as the rest [...]
