As always the world has been really busy, while I was away on holiday. Would be much appreciated if the world took a timely break every now and then as well, as it would make catching up so much easier. Instead of leaving me when the unpleasant feeling that there are lots and lots of things I'm going to miss, because I cannot read every mail, tweet, blog update etc. of the past two weeks. I know I post exactly the same story of whining every year, but I just can't help myself. However I will from this moment on [...]
(shamelessly snitching Morten 's idea... ): huh, Danish music on Swiss national radio... not too bad! Wonder how they found out about Ginger Ninja .

Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter JM Airis has sent me a quite cool song called Numbers Man . Recorded on an analog tape machine in an old textile factory, it perfectly transports that raw feeling you could expect from these surroundings. Definitely worth listening to! JM Airis - Numbers Man (MP3) Indie-Label Friendly Fire has put together a free sampler of their current [...]

Ginger Ninja will be in town on October 1 playing at Toldkammeret . This is obviously great news, as this is one terrific live band, but they've picked a rather bad date, as my wife will be going out that evening, thus making it my job to look after the kiddos. Guess I'll have to spend some hard earned cash on a babysitter, as I really don't want to miss the chance to see the boys live again. + OnePlusOneIsThree [...]

Tjeklisten is a weekly (and quite popular) radio chart voted for by listeners of Danish Radio P3 and every Sunday afternoon the new list is published. Normally this is the playground for artists like Britney , Robbie , Madonna and (shudder) Lady GaGa (check the list of the 100 most popular artists in the history of the list and you'll be hard pressed to find 10 decent ones), but every once in a while I do check the list [...]

So, we are late today. And by today I mean this was supposed to be three days ago. In honor of that, I bring you not one, but two Hype Machine-related posts. (Because of that, no theme in this one. For that just scroll down. Er, up. To the one you probably already read.) Go crazy, kids. This first one I forgot what it is since I copied it here. I liked it, I guess. http://media.puddlegum.net/wp- content/uploads/03-Dont-Look-D own-or-Back.mp3 But Have You Seen My Sister Evelyn , how could I [...]
Death Valley Sleepers has mailed a brand new recording named Into My Mind . A psychedelic 60's inspired tune, and of course it's absolutely fabulous. Download all previous recordings from this post . + Into My Mind The Ginger Ninja debut album Wicked Map was released last Monday and it's an absolutely wonderful infusion of energy. An infusion I believe all us are in dire need of right now. Speaking of [...]

"We could be anything, anything" LOVE this band. They're one of those discoveries that really gets me excited, and I think they'll be huge in their native Denmark this year (despite the ridiculous name). If you're looking for a massive electro/pop/rock song, this is the best I've heard in some while. The massive, swooping synths alone are worth a mention, but the instant chorus and fantastic lyrics can't be ignored, either. I love songs like this. It's dance, but built on the skeleton of a ballsy rock song. Ginger Ninja's debut album, Wicked Map , [...]
My to-do-list just keeps growing and growing, so time for some catching up! I have promised myself that I need to come up with a better description of the music of Death Valley Sleepers . The new song is definitely more inspired by various 60's bands than by The Raveonettes , so I believe time has come to re-discover my creative vein (if I've ever had any). + Turn Out The Light Ginger [...]
I'm unbelievable tired today. Had a night (more like an evening) out with the boys Saturday, and even though I wasn't terribly drunk, went to bed before 2 am, slept rather well, had a fairly quite Sunday and another good nights sleep, I'm still absolutely worn out today. But as I've said times and times before; " I'm definitely not 35 anymore ". There's a photo on Facebook taken some time during our small get-together, though I'm not sure if anyone's actually allowed to see it? If so, I'm the dude on the right, [...]
BandBase.dk has just premiered the video for the superb Ginger Ninja single Sunshine .

Unlike previous years I'm not going to write a lengthy report from this year's Start! (previously Vesterbro) Festival . Primarily because I'm afraid that most of it will be spent on discussing the line-up and the criteria used for selecting the artists. So no in-depth analysis this year I'm afraid. But fact is that I was there, and during the three days I heard lots of music of varying quality and got introduced to a string of (to me at least) unfamiliar artists. A few made a good impression and will perhaps be [...]

One eye is weeping and one eye is laughing. Ruined by Martin has finally announced a live date. The band's debut concert will take place on April 25 at Lades in Copenhagen. This is news that I've been waiting impatiently for, and then the first date collides with a trip to Tallinn with the boys. But hopefully this is just the first of many live dates to come? If RbM is still unknown territory to you, 5 tracks are free [...]
This morning I bought tickets for the White Lies concert in Lille Vega (March 4). Seems like the hype has yet to reach Denmark, as tickets are still available. + Death (Crystal Castles Remix) My Loney, Dear CD collection is now complete, as the missing 4 albums arrived yesterday. Don't forget to grab the new track Jetstream by Doves , [...]
Venue Scenen, torsdag [...]
Vesterbro Festival is looking more and more promising, with the lineup featuring many exciting new Danish bands. One of them is Ginger Ninja , who are from Copenhagen(ish), and a relatively new band. What's with the name? Not much really. Henrik suggested it, the other band members liked it and the rest, as they say, is history. I'm having trouble describing their sound really, it's pretty upbeat most of the time, varying between quick, sharp hooks and longer catchy choruses that even make me want to sing along. The band is still [...]

You Can Have It All - Ginger Ninja Their myspace cryptically is headed by three words: "Idol / Chinese pop / Freestyle." As far as I can tell, they are none of these, but neither is any so far off to be clearly ironic. I mean, what does freestyle Chinese pop Idol music sound like anyways? I sure don't know. Anyways, setting all those questions aside, I can tell you what Ginger Ninja sound like to me - glittery guitar pop, most clearly evidenced by this ridiculously catchy track. [...]
