by Andrew Sacher Could there have been a more perfect moment for an epic documentary on Giorgio Moroder? The man who, according to the show's very starry (and very generous) presenter Niles Rodgers, invented dance music? On the night that Daft Punk's fourth studio album finally launched, with fitting audacity at the top of the Shard, Radio 2 put out Electric Dreams: The Giorgio Moroder Story, the most enjoyable music documentary I've heard this year. Snippets of recent Daft Punk collaborator Moroder, 73, talking about his life were tacked over [...]

With immeasurable amounts of hype finally drawing to a peak this week after Random Access Memories became available to stream on iTunes, Daft Punk continue to leak secrets and stories including Part 2 of their Pete Tong interview during Coachella. In endearing French accents, the pair give a background look into the inspiration of praised single "Giorgio By Moroder," their rooted love for classic disco and rock music, how they ultimately picked their collaborators and why they've chosen an anonymous lifestyle. Read what Dancing Astronaut editors thought of the album here and don't [...]

Todd Edwards Essential Mix The Daft Punk collaborator and house music pioneer took over the helm of the BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix last night.

We're like three days away from Random Access Memories, but guess what, there's a cavalcade of dope music that's dropped/dropping that has nothing to do with the androids. Don't believe me? Just watch.

Racer is a Google Chrome experiment . Line up your phones and tablets to create a race track across up to five screens. No apps. No downloads. Just start a race, sync up and tap your screens to rev your engines. Visit THIS LINK from an Android or iOS device to play Ahhhh, and the music was composed by Giorgio Moroder himself. The chase is ON for real!!!
It’s Friday, which means we're preparing for the inaugural Flavorwire staff trivia contest (really), and also that we are, as ever, rounding up the best songs we’ve heard this week. This week we adored new tracks from Liars, Julianna Barwick, and Scott & Charlene's Wedding, marveled at the fact that Giorgio Moroder is soundtracking a Google Chrome racing game, enjoyed atmospheric goodness from oOoOO and When Saints Go Machine, got all morose with another new track from The National, and plenty more. All this goodness is streaming now, and it all awaits you after the jump. [...]

The most talked-about producer on the planet right now isn't one of the many crafting new material for Britney Spears , Beyonce and Justin Timberlake . It's Giorgio Moroder , the 73-year-old Italian musician whose synth-heavy work influenced more artists than you can fill on a sheet of paper and soundtracked at least two generations. Giorgio's longtime collaborator and close friend Donna Summer passed away one year ago today, at the age of 63. The disco queen kept her battle with lung cancer private, but it's Summer's [...]

tetDior probably has less followers than you, which is why this Donna Summer edit has a criminally low amount of plays. I think I saw it on Late Nite Tuff Guy's Facebook page, or one of those disco maestros. And it delivers. There's nothing too fancy here just a re-imagination of Giorgio Moroder's masterpiece. And a find reminder where Daft Punk started out from.

Happy Daft Punk day! To celebrate, here’s my video for my fresh mashup of Daft Punk’s Giorgio by Moroder with Everything But the Girl’s Missing. It uses footage from Björk’s All is Full of Love directed by Chris Cunningham, the found footage short “Robbie” by Neil Harvey, and footage of the recent Annular solar eclipse in Pilbara, Australia shot by Colin Legg. Together they create a melancholic story of robot love, longing and betrayal.

Daft Punk: Random Access Memories - It seems like that for the past 7 or 8 years the whole landscape of popular music has been trying to cash in on the Euro-House aesthetic that Daft Punk created. The most obvious example would be Kanye West sampling 'Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger', but you can see the influence everywhere. Will.I.Am even convinced the Biebs to sing a few bars of Daft Punk for one of his latest singles. Yes, everyone has been trying really hard to sound like Daft Punk, except for Daft Punk apparently. For better or [...]

One of the best tracks on Daft Punk's new album Random Access Memories is "Giorgio By Moroder," which has a long spoken reminisce from the Italo-disco pioneer Giorgio Moroder and which pays tribute to the endlessly tick-tocking dance beats that he created in the '70s. And now Moroder himself has returned in a fittingly strange way: He's done the soundtrack for a new Google Chrome game called Racer . Moroder's new track "Racer" exists at a halfway mark between the hypnotic tracks of his past and the pounding Euro-house of our shared present. [...]
While the pop culture media hasn't quite had enough time to pass judgement on the new Daft Punk album (just kidding, here are 13 reviews that have been published already), we can probably all agree that the masked Frenchmen have definitely done a good thing in reintroducing the world to Giorgio Moroder . Here, the veteran Italian producer has composed an epic song for Google and some weird smartphone game they've created. It feels a lot bigger than it's 3:57 runtime indicates, and makes me wish I lived in Spain so I could [...]

Italian electronic and disco legend Giorgio Moroder has seen a resurgence in the music world thanks to his collaboration on Daft Punk's latest hype machine, Random Access Memories . The 73-year-old producer is also getting back to making solo work of his own as well. It seems he loves collaborating with huge names in the electronic realm, because his latest musical creation is a partnership with none other than Google. "Racer" is the sole track associated with Google Chrome's experimental racing smartphone game of the same name. Up to 5 players can line [...]
