2nd part of 2nd round of Buffetlibres petit remixing project Rewind. Always fantastic for us to see what great interpretations of good-old-days-classics or buried treasures get realized full of enthusiasm. This time Justin Faust , CatComplex and Canadians are taking us on a time trip and bring three feet glowing aerobic dance burner into here and now. We serve you a track to think about your adored girl - if her name is Juliet, take you back to your child memories of the Neverending Story movies and on top we put [...]

Marc from Buffet Libre dropped us a line this week to give the heads up on their new "Verbena" mixtape, this being no.5 in the series. Here's what he had to say: "Verbena no.5... [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

I get a lot of my quality music listening time in at work on my iPod. And as much as I love traditional songs in rock and pop and folk formats, sometimes the lyrics and abrupt start-stop dynamics can be distracting when you're trying to focus on something important work-related. (Okay, you can stop laughing now.) Lately I've found myself drawn to a lot of ultra-vivid, repetitive electronic-type music that can turn the monotony of the work day into a pulsating, metronomic tick-tock of candy-coated deliciousness. Most of these songs tread along the same axis between hippie trippiness and polyester [...]
In keeping with the italo disco theme i started last week, here are two tracks that have a lot of similarities: synth heavy, title tracks, opening tracks, and are on albums with sah-weet album covers. The first one is a track from italo disco pioneer (who also wrote all the music in top gun, including "Take my breath away"...who knew?) Giorgio Moroder , taken from his highly influential 1977 album From Here To Eternity . Giorgio Moroder - From Here To Eternity (MP3) Next is a more current-day take on [...]

This vid is from February, which is like forever in blog time. Anyways. According to the person who posted it, the song was out for about an hour on Daft Punx Myspace, before it got removed. Youtube Link (Kinda kool video) Real or Fake? Plz comment! Plz! Was so gonna photoshop Moroder in here, but i didn´t have time... So this random chinese guy in an awesome sweater´s gonna have to suffice... The original song is the awesome <3Moroder<3 [...]
Love Motel is an electro/rock/glam group from Geneva, Switzerland. As you might figure, a band from a country that has four national languages (French, German, Italian, Romansh) has a lot of inspiration to draw from. On the Italian front, the band cite Giogio Moroder as an influence and you can definitely hear the blip arpeggios and synth washes that are informed by Mr. Moroder. The band utilizes stark German minimalism, Delicious french pop and... I'm not sure what they import from the Romansh language, that could be the wild card. Their new album "Mind The Void" is chalk full of [...]

Awesome New Republic are a pair of guys from Miami, who grew up listening to Prince and Giorgio Moroder. Their new album Rational Geographic hits stores this fall via Honor Roll Music, with the first single "2k3012" streaming now at myspace . The duo will be playing the CMJ Music Marathon in NYC in October. In the meantime, check out this totally f#$%ed up trailer for the new album.

One more belated entry for Muppet Covers Week... this should've gone up yesterday, but churning out these daily posts was wearing me out. A quick round-up of last week's posts: Day 1: It's Time to Play the Music... Day 2: The Muppet Movie Day 3: Songs From the Street Day 4: Covers by Muppets & Friends Day 5: The Batman Connection Day 6: Pinball Number [...]

Witch Baby stops the world and melts with you. The weather has entered devil's armpit territory, so I've decided to postpone my usual roster of Saturday chores and sequester myself in the air-conditioned bedroom along with a choice selection of books, music, and DVDs. Yes, it's a tragic situation, but I'll just have to learn to live with this meteorologically enforced leisure time. Sly & The Family Stone - Hot Fun in the Summertime (from Greatest Hits , 1970) - Eternally cool. [...]

Ever since I discovered Giorgio Moroder his music has been inspiring and in constant rotation on my playlist. I'm posting two of my favorites from this legendary producer and If by any chance you haven't heard either of them, do yourself a favor and grab them this instance. Oh, and peep the album art. Bad. Fucking. Ass. Giorgio Moroder - e=mc2 Giorgio Moroder - I Wanna Rock You
Italo Disco has made a bit of a comeback in the six months, with Glass Candy, Invisible Conga People, Mirage...well the whole Italians Do It Better roster basically. Which is no bad thing, I've long been a fan of 'space disco' (as it used to be called). But what most people seem to forget is that most Italo disco was shit: 'Italo disco', as a term, originated from Germany and this bloke in particular, not Italy. As cool as it is now, people also don't realise [...]
I would have began this post an hour and half ago but something came up, thanks a lot Penguins. The sad thing is that I'm not even a hockey fan. I had to watch the game because I live in Pittsburgh. That's not an exaggeration - if you live in Pittsburgh you are required by law to watch the Stanley Cup Finals when the Penguins are in it or Mario Lemieux comes to your house and body checks you to death. Anyways, as promised here is the link to my review to the dreaded Tokio Hotel [...]
We're not particularly patriotic 'round here… But we couldn't go through St George's Day without paying tribute to San Giorgio [...]
