Photo credit: Glide Magazine Sasquatch! has nearly arrived, which can only mean amazing things for those of us who are lucky enough to have tickets. The annual music festival held at The Gorge in George, Washington has quickly gone from small/medium to big time over the past several years. Though previously known for featuring predominantly indie rock music, this year's lineup shows a more obvious influence from the electronic scene. For those of you who have experienced Sasquatch!, though, you know that it’s very unlike festivals such as Coachella and [...]

DOWNLOAD: MP3 of "No Pause" To this day, GirlTalk remains one of the best shows that I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. I feel that it’s important to make a distinction between “seeing” or “going to” and “experiencing”. He was playing a festival in San Diego on one of the back stages tucked away in a poorly lit alley at the same time as Modest Mouse. This becomes important because that meant that there was an incredible filter going on in the audience. Everyone that was watching Gregg Michael Gillis go nuts on his [...]

You'll be able to find out schedules from the guides at the various booths, but plan ahead and get to the front of the stage by quickly checking below. You can catch performances which are happening simultaneously, but make [...]

Hey. It's me. Gregg. Gregg Gillis . You probably know me as Girl Talk . Oh yeah? You recognized my Pittsburgh Pirates hat, did you? The team's got a good chance of making some noise in the NL-East this year, but enough about baseball. I see you staring at me. Like I'm some old, irrelevant laptop DJ. Get it out of your system. I know what I've done, where I am, what the state of the scene is. I'm not stupid. I used to be a friggin engineer, goddammit. But I escaped from that [...]

Beirut is not a band I think about very often. Sometimes I used to forget what they even sound like. I do that a lot. When you review a lot of bands, you sometimes forget that you've ever heard of them. And then you read a great review you wrote and you think... Oh. So when I saw that Beirut was up against Girl Talk in Coachella's lineup, I made a mental asterisk to figure out how much I want to see Beirut. I knew I liked them, I knew I wanted to see [...]
There are more! There are still more bands for Coachella we haven't covered. There are still more bands that we've covered in the past who happen to also be playing Coachella this year. We aren't done yet, and Coachella begins TOMORROW! Well, we don't head out there until next week's installment, but folks... COACHELLA BEGINS TOMORROW! Are you ready? Explosions in the Sky plays at 10 PM in the Outdoor theater Friday night. Kilter gave us a preview of this post-rock band almost [...]

ALX @ The Garrison: photo by Michael Ligon For this year's Canadian Musicfest , Saturday wasn't the official last day of the festival [as Sunday night had a smattering of shows to close out the festival] but for many the Saturday night was the night to end things, and hopefully on a high note. That said, my Saturday night was a generally light one but that was fine by me. Cooler temperatures than the previous milder nights, I made the decision to stay indoors as much as possible [...]

Burning Man for tech-loving hipsters? Absolutely. The Creators Project brought innovative works of visual and musical artists to life at SF's Fort Mason Center.
When I sat down with Canada's resident electronic party-maker Rich Aucoin backstage at Vancouver's Media Club, he was just back from a trip to UBC's Museum of Anthropology. "I just like to keep learning," he told me. In fact, Rich visits the big museums in every city he hits while on tour. Later, I watched him put up the parachute and set up the multimedia spectacular for his show and I could understand why a Rich Aucoin show is not to be missed. Now it is your turn to learn all about Rich Aucoin [...]
