Girlicious ' new single "Maniac" has been playing non-stop at MuuMuse Headquarters (read: my iPod) for the past few weeks. So how does the video fare? Like Miley 's new video , it's basically a lot of smut in a cage. Sure, there are some truly delicious hair flip moments, and the dancing could be called 'quite fierce' in spots. Mainly though, it's a fairly by-the-books show of sluttery. All in all, it's very Gaga .¹ ¹ Not actually Gaga.

The song is typical electro-pop, but a little generic in our opinion. Or at least that's what she claims. The singer from Girlicious recently pleaded not guilty to the drug-sale charges she was accused with in March when the police kind of stumbled upon cocaine in her bag. Next it's off to the hearing for Natalie Mejia and then the trial, but she seems to stick to her story very strongly and with a good lawyer, the judge just might believe her. After all… who hasn't went through the embarrassment of accidentally having cocaine with them in the airport. Perhaps Natalie Mejia didn't even mean to take it with her that day. [...]

Given that I've played this track well over twenty times now, I think it's fair to say that the girls have officially merited their own post. Girlicious is the side project started up by Robin Antin , the creator of the Pussycat Dolls (RIP). They never really lifted off (except for the semi-brilliant moment that was "Like Me" ), but now that PCD is no more (RIP), this is the best we've got to work with. You might remember them as those fighting and bitching girls on the 'Pussycat Dolls present: Girlicious' show, which was re-running earlier this year. Their debut album didn't do much (in fact it was only released in Canada), but now one member lighter, they're back with new single ' Over You '. Click here to view the embedded video.

If you recall our slapdash end of the year festivities in 2008 (it was our first, and we were wholly unprepared for how much work actually goes into it), you'll remember that Girlicious' ode to doing stupid shit was #17 on my top 50 songs list. I made a point about how pop can be looked at not only as an art form, but also as a vehicle for escapism. That track was a perfect example of how worthless trash evolves into pure pop bliss. With that title, it was never meant for chart success, but solely for our enjoyment. [...]

Girlicious recorded 2 new songs called " Don't Turn Back ", and "Caught" for their Canadian re-release of their debut self-titled album. Along with these tracks, producer-DJ Dave Audé (who helped trained the girls during the competition) mixed their 3 singles, Like Me, Stupid Sh**, and Baby Doll.
