Johnny Jewel doing what he does best... I made my way yesterday to see Desire , Glass Candy and Cosmo Vitelli at Juste Pour Rire. Missed the Cocktail Club DJ set, and caught the last half of Desire, which (as Feeling Nouveau mentioned earlier today ) wasn't the wildest in terms of stage performance, but that will come soon enough. The last time I had seen Glass Candy was about six years ago in Victoria, having formed [...]

GLASS CANDY RARITIES FOR FREE. Long-standing Cannibal Cheerleader favorites Glass Candy have been ripping their brand of haunted disco for over a decade now, and as one might imagine the duo of Ida No and Johnny Jewel have racked up quite the collection of recordings to show for it, given the group's penchant for Tour CDRs available only at live shows. Gorilla vs Bear posted a Glass Candy (I guess they've dropped the & 'The Shattered Theatre' portion of their name) cover of Cyndi Lauper 's 'Iko Iko' & a cover of Kraftwerk 's 'Computer Love' which are pretty tasty. You'll love them if you are down with the Chromatics sound which if you have good taste, you are. Still, I'm more fond of the 2002 scream/rock Glass Candy & The Shattered Theatre sound. I remember seeing G.C. playing at 'The Outhouse' which was nothing more than a little shack [...]
