Justin Beck gives sneak peek of new Glassjaw record Check out this exclusive interview from our friends over at Alter The Press with Justin Beck ( Glassjaw ) who were lucky enough to get a taste of the new Glassjaw record.
New Glassjaw album sounds like "Massive Attack with spanish feel" Tommy Corrigan (Silent Majority), an insider who has worked with Glassjaw guitarist Justin Beck at MerchDirect has posted an update on the new Glassjaw album here .
Glassjaw bassist has no idea when new album will be done Glassjaw bassist Manny Carrero recently responded on their fan forum regarding the hazy situation of the band's new album. Carrero typed, "I feel like a kid that's been asked to clean his room, but the room still isn't clean, and every time the kid peeks out of the room, he is immediately asked if it's finished. (And I've already cleaned my section of the room.) "I mean, let's be frank, here. I [...]

There must be something in the water; another awesome supergroup has been born. Says a press release delivered by carrier pigeon to the MetalSucks Mansion: United Nations is a power-violence band that features members of Thursday, Glassjaw, Made Out of Babies, Converge, and other special guests: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U nited_Nations_(band) Full album. Streaming. MySpace. Now. Listen. -VN Related posts: A NEW SUPERGROUP YOU MIGHT [...]

Some of you may or may not know United Nations . If you don't know who they are, go to their MySpace page and stream the whole record until August 28th before the September 9th release. If you know who they are and are eager for more then...read on. The word on the street is that people who donated $1 to the band off of their marketing poll have been receiving cryptic emails back with an attached MP3. From what I've been told this song [...]

There seems to be a lot of mystery as to who exactly is in United Nations . We know Thursday's Geoff Rickly is definitely involved. Glassjaw's Daryl Palumbo and Converge's Ben Koller have been rumored to be part of the mix as well. Regardless, the band's debut is streaming up on their Myspace so check it out. The full-length comes out on September 9th via Eyeball Records.

Today we bring you two new supergroups that are both producing unexpected music, far from what one might expect by looking at their line ups. First up, theseseans has been raving about United Nations for a while now. Comprised of bands that aren't our normal material United Nations includes Geoff Rickly ( Thursday ) and Daryl Palumbo ( Glassjaw ); the band also features Ben Koller of Converge , and that dude can make anything sound awesome. The end result is fast grinding punk, and we would recommend them to anyone who loves [...]

Well, maybe their similarities end with their press photos, you can be the judge of that. UNITED NATIONS are a hard/grindcore side project. There's been speculation as to who is actually in this band for months. The only actual member in the band we know of is Thursday frontman Geoff Rickly . Rickly has become the unofficial leader of the band since the rest of them are under contract with different labels and therefore haven't revealed their true identities, let alone give interviews. But a quick browse of some message [...]
:: BEN FOLDS posted a song from his new album on his Myspace page . It's called "Bitch Went Nutz" and in the running for the song title of the year. :: The band UNITED NATIONS (rumored members of Thursday , Glassjaw , and #12 Looks Like You ) have launched a new website . :: iTunes keeps its reign as a top music retailer but it now seems like Amazon is giving it a run for its money . [...]

Popaganda is a perfect title for this album. Pop music doesn't have to suck! Head Automatica wants to rock your socks and make you tap your toes to the pop music! Lead singer Daryl Palumbo wants to be in a pop band: "...no one in America wants to say they're in a pop band. So many kids who start pop-punk bands insist they're not pop. To them I say, 'You don't even know what pop is. You've grown up with ****ing Blink-182 forced down your throat.' Whereas I want to be in [...]
Last year was quite a year for new releases. I practically shat myself over the new M.I.A. and Jonah Matranga records, this year may cause equal of greater shating. Okay, enough of measuring poo. This year has promised new records from Portishead , dredg , The Mars Volta , and Nada Surf . But the one release that I am holding my excitement for is the new Glassjaw album. After seeing them perform their new tunes a year ago and hearing live recordings of recent shows (along with [...]
Random Thought #3 - I was walking a dog today and I called for it like so, "Dinky! (clap clap)" ...it then dawned on me how bizarre it would sound if there was no dog around. Starting tomorrow, I will listen to nothing but metal for a week straight. No rap, indie rock, Jonah, or Bjork . No Miles Davis with coffee, it will now be Mastodon with my coffee. No Iron & Wine to put me to sleep, now it's Isis that'll be putting [...]

Under the Basement is an irregular feature I'll be running on bands that I'd buried/forgotten in the past. Hopefully you'll [re]discover some great music along the way... Like most of my other favorite bands from high school, I've somewhat unfairly buried Glassjaw these last few years. Being a fairly obvious influence on every emo-core band you've every heard probably didn't help these guys much. But revisiting their very solid debut Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Silence and the stunning follow-up Worship and Tribute , I remembered Daryl [...]
