Photos by G. Emile Mosseri of The Dig Here's a band I think you might dig: The Dig. The quartet from New York opened for Glasvegas on May 23, 2011 at Bowery Ballroom. Though the online descriptions of the band's sound often say "power pop," I thought they were a lot more rock and roll than pop. Emile Mosseri and David Baldwin traded off on vocal duties and also played bass and guitar, respectively. David Baldwin [...]

Photos by G. James Allan of Glasvegas Scottish rockers Glasvegas returned to the live stage in New York last night, May 23, 2011 with a sold out show at Bowery Ballroom. The band hit the stage at 10 pm after an equally rockin' set from The Dig (more to come on The Dig, so please stay tuned). Glasvegas' new album "EUPORIC /// HEARTBREAK \\\" was recently released and the band played tracks off the record mixed in with their classics such as "Geraldine," "Daddy's Gone" [...]

Glasvegas recently sat down with NME for a video interview where two of the four members talk about their new record Euphoric Heartbreak . What contributed to the

Frank Yang So yes, I am currently abroad - huzzah - but this little dispatch isn't meant to rub it in to those who are still back in Toronto (or wherever you might be that is not Barcelona). Instead, it's to gently remind you that there's still plenty of stuff of the live music variety to see right there in Hogtown this week; more than is typical, I'd go so far as to say. So here's a quick run-down of stuff that, were I not elsewhere, I'd either be at or consider being at, starting [...]
Glasvegas has remixed Giana Factory 's Rainbow Girl and gives away the remix (or "remake" as they call it) for free. Aside from being an interesting constellation the excitement fades quickly once you listen to it. Being my usual grumpy self, I recommend you check out the original version instead. Giana Factory - Rainbow Girl (Glasvegas remake) by [...]

Before we begin, I have some news about The Indie Sabbath . This is going to be the last regular Indie Sabbath for a month or so. Last week, I mentioned that I would be leaving to help with the disaster in the south this coming monday. Assuming the world is still here by the end of the night, that is still the plan. For those of you who haven't read last week's Sabbath, let me catch you up. Starting Monday the 16th, I am going to be traveling to Missouri to help with the relief effort. This is [...]

Here's a look at some of the stuff I just couldn't get to this week: Hotel St. George, Bloodlust This is the latest album from our friends, San Diego indie rockers Hotel St. George. In the past the band have tended to have a rootsier feel. They trade that in on this album for some fuzz and reverb. The rough edges are left rough, which is great. There's also a greater Anglo-rock sound, with

For those who decided not to venture up to see what Splendour in the Grass 2011 has to offer, the splendour sideshows have more than provided a feel for what you've missed out on. Check out the shows below: Pulp Wed 27 July - Hordern Pavilion, Sydney Tickets from Ticket Master , Ph 132 849 Fri 29 July - Festival Hall, Melbourne Tickets from [...]
After a blockbuster week of new releases last week (so many that we had a part one and two), this week's lot of new releases is also impressive, just not as jam-packed as last week. But, don't fret - there is plenty to listen to, including new music from: Danger Mouse Bahamas Chad VanGaalen Zachary [...] Read more, get songs or stream the entire mix on Indie Rock Cafe

Moby has long been one of our favorite, yet controversial artists. From his vegan ways and animal rights, to his leftist mentality, surely there's something you either strongly agree or strongly disaggree with. This week, we're quite agreeable with Moby's music and several other new albums arriving today. Moby's Destroyed album is out today, and we're quite excited to check this one out given his fantastic effort in his last album,Wait For Me. Moby's last album brought everything back to the basics and if there's anything we feel we know better than anyone, its Moby's [...]

Scottish indie rock band Glasvegas is out with their sophomore album EUPHORIC/// HEARTBREAK \\ , which is set to hit shelves May 17, 2011. The new album documents the band's experience since the success of their last full-length self-titled release. With lead single "Euphoria, Take My Hand" on the record, the track plays as an anthemic tune for the band, allowing the lyrical hooks to take over the ear. Glasvegas - Euphoria, Take My Hand video: [...]
We're no longer afraid of widgets. In fact, we spent several hours plowing through every one of them over at RCRD LBL and were rather wildly delighted to find the following downloadables. Some of them we already had, indeed had already posted--Oh, that Morning After Girls tune. . .mwah!!!--but our links had expired, blah, blah, blah, etc. We weren't sure if posting a long list of widgets would

Our favs, Scottish dreamrockers Glasvegas, flip the script on Giana Factoy's "Rainbow Girl" from last year. Nice fact: Giana Factory's singer Loui Foo is the sister of The Raveonettes Sharin Foo, which is cool because this refashioning of the track is totally Raves, especially latter day Raves, or is it Glasvegas are totally Raves? Don't ask us to decide. Peep the track below via RCRD LBL Giana Factory - Rainbow Girl (Glasvegas Remake) Giana Factory: ( Myspace ) ( Official ) ( Facebook ) [...]
Several episodes of the Danger Radio Podcast back I was talking about being asked to give my thoughts on some recently recorded music. One of those bands was Hull's DePHOT (pronounced Day-Fought). This is one of my favorite tracks from DePHOT because it's really moody. These guys remind me a lot of Glasvegas vocally, so if you're a Glasvegas fan you'll likely quickly find your self attracted to DePHOT. Post your thoughts on the video in the comments below.

MP3: Saskatchewan – Dreamboat We saw this today on an old favorite blog, You Ain't No Picasso and wanted to share this great dream pop track in the likes of Cults or Oregon Bike Trails from Saskatchewan which they have just released. Enjoy!

After a little hiatus your boy Train is back! And what better way to come back than to come bearing gifts? And not just any gifts, but gifts of the Glasvegas variety! You may remember that waaaaaaaaay back in the day Sydney C posted about Glasvegas - this is before I even wrote for the Muffin, but I did get a name check in that post...you were probably all wondering who this Train fellow was. Or maybe you weren't. I don't know I'm not a mind reader. Or am I?? But [...]
