Finally I have got around to making my top ten albums of 2009 list. So what is the homercat criteria for being a "best" album. I could go into all the things I gauge it on, but it simply boils down to which full albums did I listen to the most after purchasing them. I have listened to the albums on this list countless number of times and personally I am thrilled to death with each and every one. My list looks like no other top ten list from last year and that's the way I [...]
![TV: 'New Directions' Makes it Through Sectionals [GLEE]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/2186112_lg.jpg)
The day finally arrived for McKinley High School's Glee Club New Directions to take the stage at their first Sectionals competition. As we've grown accustomed from the first twelve episodes, it was not an easy path for the choir to make it on stage. Already minus their Director (thanks to last episode's Sue Sylvester sabotage) the club was dealt another blow with the loss of their Male star Finn who finally found out he wasn't the father of Quinn's baby. Mr. Shuester chose Emma to travel with the [...]

There's a good chance GLEE can do no wrong. Tell me you didn't want to cry during the performance of John Lennon's Imagine by fictional Jane Addams Academy ( School for the Deaf ). In news that will likely set off intermittent screeches from this writer teenage girls across the country, it has been announced that after the conclusion of Season One this Spring the cast will head on TOUR ! (Pause. Let it sink. Let's hear your High F!) I'm getting my TEAM RACHEL [...]
So I have to confess that since I first blogged about Glee way back in May, I hadn't watched any more of it until about a week ago, when I caught the last 15 minutes of the most recent episode "Wheels" (which, if you ask me, missed a hell of an opportunity for a well-timed Foo Fighters tie-in). I thought about tuning in, but the fears of what the show might become kept me away. I was afraid that the show was going to turn into a vehicle for whoring out Top 40 artists a la American [...]
Sting scende [...]

A side from the fact that shows nowadays cater more to the trend of the moment, Fox released an American musical comedy-drama television series that focuses on a high school show choir or what you might always knew of as the school's glee club. Although glee has been compared to high school musical, I must say it's way cooler than any of your high school musical show. Oooops! The show apart from highlighting the stereotyped cast also features covers of numerous songs sung on-screen by the characters. Musical segments [...]
I think the last time I wrote about a TV show was back on Valentine's Day, when I raved about United States of Tara and the joys of PVRing (for the record: can't wait until the start of season two, and love that Toni Colette won an Emmy for it). I don;t know if I'm subconsciously making this a holiday tradition, but here it is, Thanksgiving weekend, and I'm wrapped up in another new show, one I'm sure some of you out there will a) either be in love with, too, or b) absolutely hate. [...]

Glee Cast - Gold Digger [Kanye West]

Since we have a tendency to look below the radar for our music, we decided to take a weekly look at The Populist View. We'll stop short of calling our tastes underground, let's just say we're pop-culturally inept. So we've devised a way to keep up to date. Its quite simple actually. We're just going to give side by side comparisons of top ten U.S. singles from Billboard's Hot 100 chart and the Official top ten UK singles of every week. This way we'll always know what's spreading the [...]
If you hadn't noticed in the last few weeks, FOX has been promoting the hell out of this new show called "Glee" about a high school glee club who defy the social cliques and sing reworked pop songs. I gave it no thought until this past weekend when friends were saying how amazing it was. I finally broke down and watched the pilot episode, which you can watch on Hulu. The writing was witty, the characters were funny and the story was fun. As soon as I heard the few notes of the a cappella version of Journey's [...]
Last night was the sneak preview premiere of Fox's newest show GLEE from writer Ryan Murphy (Nip/Tuck). Most people are probably talking about the anti-climatic, almost-finale of American Idol, but I think you might have your primetime priorities mixed up. For just a pilot episode, I was rather impressed. Sure, there could have been a few tweaks here and there (Miley Cyrus' boyfriend, srsly?), but I think if they play it cool and keep throwing in some relevant music choices like the Amy Winehouse and Kanye numbers, it could become the Gossip Girl of Fox, thriving just [...]
