11 - Yeah Ghost , Zero 7 Zero 7 is back with their fourth album, Yeah Ghost . While I still think that their best album is their first, [...]

This was a year of mixed priorities for me, and less of a focus on music than in prior years. Life gets in the way of such things, and as a result, this is a bit of a smaller list than I've presented in other years. That being said, the sound is no less potent, interesting and fun to listen to. Here's who I thought were some of the best new artists of 2009: Allie Moss - [...]
All these songs have been brought straight from my inbox! Been posting a lot of electronic and remixes lately (not that there's ANYTHING wrong with that) but I needed a very chill Sunday morning and decided to just skip all the electronic and remixes on my inbox and simply make a post that was more instrumental. [Folk] William The Contractor explains "I´m the contractor that refuses to become what the society wants me to be. I prefer to see myself as a happy man, it really doesn´t have to be more complicated than [...]

Glide & Swerve's debut album, Bring Back Love , sounds much like their name. It's sleek, easy listening and feels like it's the perfect thing to zone out to while watching one of those Apple visualizers. The result is a fantastic down-tempo album that is perfect listening for a slow moment. Moreover, the album as a whole sounds 'cool'. The group has been compared to Zero 7, but I think it sounds [...]

We all need to rein things in from time to time. After a day of running around at work, a soothing cup of tea at home is often the perfect remedy. After a crashing wall of noise guitar assault, a passage of reflective instrumentation is usually a sound choice for purveyors of post-rock. After an afternoon spent chasing a balloon reportedly containing one's child , a moment of calm consideration as to the appropriate punishment for making shit up will serve a parent well. And after an evening of [...]
What the hell is going on in the apartment above me? From the consistent soft thuds, each followed by a deafening crash, I'm pretty sure my neighbours have just started up Shanghai's first elephant abattoir. And it's making working pretty difficult this morning, so I'm glad to be able to whack on Glide & Swerve [...]

UK chill-out electronica duo Glide & Swerve , aka Ivan and Simon, began life in Hong Kong as a production outfit and promoters of the island's most infamous parties (often 2 day affairs which attracted international travelers, ex-pats, and Hong Kong Chinese alike). Now they're back in the UK and eager for everyone to hear what they've been coming up with. The first single, from their brand new album Bring Back Love , "And I Smile," is one of the albums few vocal tracks, and brings this smooth laid back hip hop beat to the table. [...]

If electro pop is the current sound of Saturday night Britain, then 'Bring Back Love' is the soundtrack to a Sunday afternoon spent in 'recovery'. Forthcoming single, 'And I Smile', is one of the album's vocal tracks, and is currently being played by specialist radio shows including that of French whiz, Laurent Garnier. "Crazy P meets Spirit Catcher by way of a down-tempo Adam Freeland and Deep Dish. This is erotic electronica - laidback Nu-Disco at its best." IDM Magazine "Like a Rubik's Cube, the more time you devote to this album, the more [...]

New in earlier in my mailbox is this beautiful sun kissed Balearic -chilled-downtempo track from the U.K's Glide And Swerve. To be honest I havent heard anything about this duo, but thats just my ignorance in not keeping an eye on the more laid back scene for a while, and this tune is up there with the best of that genre. Lovely little bassline, piano strikes, strings, minimal vocals and cymbal use at the end, make this a tune I would happily blare out on a gorgeous night with the sun shining and the drinks flowing. Jay Chappell has added [...]
