In a scene where yearly festivals are as abundant as they are sweaty, This Is Hardcore has emerged as the leader of the pack, unequivocally the most anticipated of all hardcore music events in America. Combining coveted reunions with plentiful appearances by modern acts big and small, the event brings revelers and pit beasts to [...]
On Saturday I headed down to South Philly to catch a basement show my friend was throwing. Go Rydell was the main inspiration for going out, and I've been meaning to catch The Great Explainer for quite some time now.Divided HeavenDivided Heaven from Los Angeles, CA was a one man, acoustic singer-songwriter who originally lived in Philly. I thought he looked a bit familiar, and then
Last night, I headed to a basement show to catch a stellar line-up: Go Rydell, Hold Tight!, This Is Your Life, and Reservoirs. I didn't really catch the headlining two piece Omar, but they sounded pretty tight from what I've heard. After wandering in the rain for a while trying to find the house, I walked into the place and went straight down into the tiny basement. There were maybe a total
Holy shit. A split between Grey Area and Go Rydell? Pinch me, I'm dreaming. It's been nearly 11 years since Grey Area released any new materials (seriously, think of where you were 11 years ago), and having Go Rydell on the split is an added bonus. The NYC melodic hardcore veterans contribute 2 songs, and both are fucking stellar. Grey Area obviously haven't missed a single beat in their

Hey! You need to check out Go Rydell . They're a melodic punk/hardcore band from Orlando, Florida and their latest album The Golden Age contains 10 fist-pumping songs that clock in at about 14 minutes. It's blazing. Everything about this band reminds me of Kid Dynamite and Shook Ones and that (my friends) can never be a bad thing. Seriously fucking good shit here despite the fact they're totally ripping off those bands I mentioned. Out now on the great Black Numbers label. You've gotta have this if you're a fan of either Kid Dynamite [...]
On Florida's Go Rydell's "Golden Age", the band blasts through 10 songs in around 15 minutes. And in the spirit of the album, I'm going to keep it short.Taking cues from Kid Dynamite and Shook Ones, the band plays high energy melodic hardcore with brutal vocals backed by solid melodies. At times, it sounds like they are trying just a little too hard to be Kid Dynamite, but with this being

It's hard to believe we're already on Vol. XII of the Almost Missed mix series. For those of you not familiar with this particular series, it includes singles we really like from recent released albums that for one reason or another we didn't feature when they were originally released. This is our way of catching [...] Read more, get songs or stream the entire mix on Indie Rock Cafe

mp3: Go Rydell -"A Little Too Raph" review by Josh Spilker Too bad the words "fast and furious" are now such a rotten cliche, because that's exactly what Orlando's Go Rydell is. And if "fast and furious" also means "90s carefree danger" then perhaps Go Rydell fits into that as well. These are dirty punk rock beats (no, not crust or gutter) but fitting in the Florida punk rock tradition with punchy percussion and vocals that sound like they've been eviscerated with razor blades. If old-school people [...]
