Our 2011 resolution was to try to help as many bands make money to simply afford to be just a band. One of the new regular segments we'll be doing is called "Important Wax" where we highlight vinyl off the beaten path. You won't find these in stores, rather these are the records that have limited runs and little exposure created by bands/artists on the rise. One of my nightmares concerning collecting vinyl is that I only started six years ago. All these gems that I want [...]

GOBBLE GOBBLE is the hyperactive bedroom pop project of San Francisco via Canada noise nomad Cecil Frena. Frena screamed and played guitar in Canadian hardcore bands for years until a fateful summer tour in which he blew out his throat, at which point pop music became a more appealing proposition. The results are unorthodox to say the least: stuttering, blown-out and chopped guitar peals, erratic, bubbling synth arpeggios, and bursts of meticulously processed digital noise abound, all these boisterous bits held in place by the steady pulse of grooves that would otherwise sound at home on [...]
After painstakingly putting together my top 2010 albums list a few weeks ago, I couldn't help feeling I'd left off some pretty dope music. In fact I've been listening to some of my... [go to the website to read the rest of the article, download mp3s and more]

new look, new venue, and lots of other new. look for details, a new mixtape, and some promo videos to pop up over the next two weeks. until then, enjoy this. gobble gobble - lawn knives
We're not going to a do a Best Songs list of our own here (I don't think). It's more difficult to make a cohesive album than it is to make a single song, so it seems more fitting to talk about the artists that we believe did that well. But, that doesn't mean we're immune...

Thomas Michael is the primary songwriter for Jaded Hipster Choir , and a merciless consumer and creator of great music. This list is in his own words, "The Top 10 songs that I heard for the first time in 2k10" so obviously it isn't just limited to songs that came out this year, and they aren't in any particular order. Enjoy, and expect more guest posts very soon! Roman's Revenge - Nicki Minaj Until We Bleed - Kleerup ft. Lykke Li Reeling the Warmth - Kohwi [...]

Due to my unorganized planning, I totally missed out on Gobble Gobble's many CMJ shows this year. I am really upset at myself, because I heard that their live show is out of this world. With incredibly unique offerings like "Lawn Knives", I can see why people are (literally) going nuts for this band. It's blipped out electronic fuzz laced with smart pop wits. Say what? I still owe you guys my best of 2010 lists. You can bet "Lawn Knives" will be included. [mp3]: Gobble Gobble - Lawn Knives [...]

The semblance that the rule of a certain class is only the rule of certain ideas comes to a natural end as soon as class rule in general ceases to be the form in which society is organized. - Karl Marx Bike Month - Tide Came In (GOBBLE GOBBLE's Feminism as Taught by Lars von Trier)

Cloud Nothings - Morgan (Truman Peyote Remix) Cloud Nothings - Morgan BNS Railcars - Cathedral With No Eyes (Truman Peyote remix) As part of yesterday's If I Ran The Zoo playlist, Emily dropped a particular jam that no one outside of a few friends have had the chance to hear yet...so right now we're gonna turn the lights out, close our eyes, and feel this one out. When it comes to bands I'm stoked on, Truman Peyote are the marshmallow [...]

My friend Cecil was weird and cool enough to cover The Dream's "Nikki". I will never understand the man behind GOBBLE GOBBLE - his entire existence is a sacred mystery, and I continue to be intrigued by the man, the enigma- the one-person party that is GOBBLE GOBBLE. This song is bizarre, naturally. GOBBLE GOBBLE- Nikki (I am Not the Dream)
Diamond Rings came into my life though my now beloved GBL GBL ...Cecil did a remix of "All Yr Songs" which he called "Wings for Eyeliners," and for a long time that was all I knew of Diamond Rings music. That glitched out gobble-fied version actually made the original seem strange to me upon hearing it for the first time, but the talent behind Diamond Rings can't be denied. The man behind Diamond Rings is 25 year old Canadian John O, and it's damn hard this year to find a catchier pop album that [...]

It's never easy to narrow down all the songs from an entire year into one, pretty brief cumulative list and this year, the task hasn't gotten any less difficult. The songs that you find below may have been featured under our "Fresh Tracks" section earlier in time, but these are the ones that pulled me in the most. Some left me on my bed bewildered by their sheer awe and beauty, while others just made me want to get out, to anywhere, as long as it was away from where I was at the specific moment. That sort of revisiting [...]

The Treecast is so named because we purchased and decorated our Christmas tree this afternoon. It is an incoherent mess of all sorts of shite, stupid garish baubles, a weird peacock thingy and some foolish attempts at being tasteful which have been utterly overwhelmed by the utter cack which surrounds them. My parents always did seriously tasteful trees actually, so I would imagine they will be downright ashamed of the half-arsed mess we have managed to create. Actually, my dad is the world's biggest Grinch, so he won't give a shite, but my mum might be silently disappointed. [...]

DOWNLOAD MP3: Kuhrye-oo - "Manet Monet" Fellow comrade Teen Daze pointed me in the direction of this fresh track recently by a new artist named Kuhrye-oo, who actually happens to be Calvin of Gobble Gobble. Venturing out to create some of his own hypnotic jams, "Manet Monet" is the first offering to emerge, and digs it's heels deep into a further subdued territory of electronica. Lately, there has been a resurgence of Boards of Canada worshippers - i.e. Baths and more recently, Chrome Sparks - and Kuhrye-oo places well amongst [...]

Since its the weekend and its party time the song of the day had to be a track I will be jamming out too tonight its by fellow canadian Teen Daze remixed by Gobble Gobble which he calls it the dive off the beach pier into a lake of clotted blood remix. His reason for that is unknown maybe because its a head banger. Enjoy
