As regular readers are already aware, we do not always agree with one another here at MetalSucks. To that end, we now present not one but two reviews of the new Goes Cube album, In Tides and Drifts, which is out now on The End Records - one from Ben Shanbrom, who loved the album, [...]

Straight out of Brooklyn, crazy sludgecore rockers named GOES CUBE have been raking in accolades for In Tides and Drifts, now out on The End. Outside of a more persistent heaviness, it's not drastically different from Another Day Has Passed, their excellent 2009 breakthrough, and any hoo-ha about In Tides and Drifts being light years ...
Biggest and best metal release day of 2011 so far? It certainly seems that way. New records from Amon Amarth, Becoming the Archetype, Blackguard, Cavalera Conspiracy - are you kidding me? there's still more? - Goes Cube, Havok, Mercenary, Obscura and a Between the Buried and Me best-of comp (with a brand new release coming [...]
This week's slate of releases is nice and plump. That new J Mascis solo album is finally hitting shelves, and so is the latest Mountain Goats platter. Both of those are must-haves. Also worth cranking are Amon Amarth , Royal Bangs , Obits and The Pains of Being Pure at Heart . Haven't checked them out yet, but I'm also intrigued by Cavalera Conspiracy , Goes Cube and Pharoahe Monch . Oh, and Radiohead released that new record physically today. I [...]

"Oh God, when will they stop with the SXSW news?" When SXSW is over, son.Anyway, Full Metal Texas, still set for March 17 at Emo's, has added Scandinavian scallywags Kvelertak and New York duders Goes Cube to their line-up. The new Goes Cube album, In Tides and Drifts, is FUCKING SICK, guys. Out of the ashes of traditional music business comes Coextinction Recordings. Based in Brooklyn and run out of the Translator Audio recording studio, the label was started by several local musicians, including Dave Curran of Unsane. Rather than focus on signing artists and putting out full-length albums, the idea is to work with musicians on quick, creative, one-time projects, then distribute
David Obuchowski, screamer for local heroes Goes Cube just sent out this missive yesterday about a show that he and his mates are playing this coming Friday at Brooklyn venue The Bell House. In it he talks of moves and babies and things of that nature, writing: Of course, this does NOT mean the end [...]

"The last day of SXSW is always the most metal." - Kip Wingerschimidt, the morning of the last day of SXSW 2009, before staying up all night partying with Dredg and then tearing the insides of his knee to shreds in the most non-metal of ways whilst getting ready to go to the airport. Fortunately [...]
In which we ate epic BBQ and saw an epic headline set by Muse... Every year at SXSW I make time for a trip down to the Salt Lick. It's never easy; at 45 minutes outside the city limits it turns into a 3+ hour adventure, and the tricky part is getting a ride. Thankfully this [...]
