Australia's Gold Fields have been on my radar since about March of 2012. It's hard to field all of the promotional blasts that I get about new artists and albums, but something about Gold Fields' mesh of dance rhythms with familiar, but subtle, "emo-pop" cut through the noise, and set me up for a perfect sunny Summer album. Something about the juxtaposition of Gold Fields and the title of the album, "Black Sun", struck me as very clever; burning a beautiful image of the scene into my mind. I wanted to know Gold Fields story, but [...]

![CAPITAL CITIES AND GOLD FIELDS PLAYED IRVING PLAZA [PHOTOS]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4948360_lg.jpg)
Photos by Luis Ruiz Capital Cities , along with openers Gold Fields and Lovelife , sold out Irving Plaza last thursday night. The evening began very darkly, though the crowd certainly didn't seem to mind, with loud percussion and mysterious, strobing lights from Gold Fields . When Capital Cities made their way to the stage, the atmosphere became than of an 802s dance party, complete with huge Neon Sunglasses, choreographed dance routines, pop classic covers, and matching jackets. From blasting tunes for Ballarat locals to receiving record offers from British labels, GOLD FIELDS are moving up and beyond with their latest single ‘You’re Still Gone’ from their album Black Sun . The consistent drum beat and synthesized acoustics blend together effortlessly, generating a laid-back tone to their sound. It’s the perfect combo of dance and indie pop. The song includes catchy lyrics and a repetitive chorus (the good kind of repetitive, not the metropolitan plumbing ad repetitive). It’s all about relationships and break ups with [...]

Debut album Black Sun Out Now via Astralwerks.

I've been wondering where you were.... You're Still Gone . We've seen us some Gold Fields in concert, and boy howdy is it one hell of a show. The lights started off dark, and all of the sudden to the heavy beating of drums lights began to light the stage and two drummers continued bumpin the bass. The percussion sections in these ballads are so pulse setting, it's unreal. Recently, Gold Fields has been touring the good ole United States, with fellow band Capital Cities , who are also modern rockstars. This is one of [...]

They're currently being heralded as Melbourne's kings of disco, and 96 BULLS don't look like they'll be slowing down any time soon. After smashing through some serious remixes of bands such as The Wombats, Gold Fields, St. Lucia and more - they're now spending the majority of their time in the studio to bring us some original works. So we feel extremely lucky that the boys are heading down to CANT SAY this Friday for a one off headline extravaganza. And because of all this, [...]

As you know, Record Store Day is on 4/20 this weekend. and it's a great date to support local record stores, buy exclusive new releases and just have fun appreciating music. One of the most coveted RSD releases this year is Astralwerks' limited edition 20/20 Vinyl Box Set to celebrate their 20th anniversary. They're one of my favorite labels, and this release is a great time capsule of all the great acts on their roster over the years. Included are exclusives or rarely heard tracks from Air, Hot Chip, Kings Of [...]

We've been on a slight hiatus as we ventured down to the desert for an absolutely epic week at Coachella, but we made it back in one piece and just in time to deliver some hot new selections for our seventh installment of The Jam Jar . We're going deep, disco, and funky this week – capturing those moments of pure bliss on the dancefloor and bringing you a bevy of party-worthy house vibes. Nothing quite like figuring out that you still have 1600 shots to go through after six posts already up for SxSW... Sorry, SxSW seems like a distant memory, but I may just rekindle some fond memories of the smaller shows that you should have gone to. Official SxSW stuff, I have already shared the shots of The Flaming Lips headlined party and Iggy and The Stooges . This gallery has shots of Mompox , Young Galaxy , Local Natives , Gold Fields , Shout Out Louds [...]
Pigeon are a five piece live electronic/dance/pop group based in Brisbane, Australia. They released their second EP, Fortunes , at the end of 2012, followed by headline and support tours with Van She and Tijuana Cartel, and a nomination for a Queensland Music Award. The band recently shared a brand new video, directed by Matthew Earl and produced by Richard Zhang, for their latest single "Encounters". The song pulls no punches as it starts with siren-like synths and gradually builds into a massive party anthem. Pigeon - Encounters [...]
