It's eerie how frequently one thing can lead to another in terms of exposing any which artist opening up your very own outlook to a vortex of likeminded musicians, and that's precisely what occurred after we yesterday featured the quietly sublime Koloto . In its wake trailed a couple emails from acquaintances and/ or affiliates of Maria Sullivan, the pick of which would surely be the produce of inscrutable UK producer Ekoda Map . It's again a stylistic mode which is more closely aligned with so-called organica than it is electronica I suppose, in that manipulable gadgetry merely [...]

Inspired by Gold Panda 's 'Miyamae EP' and title track ' Back Home ' we dropped him a quick line in 2009, via Soundcloud, to see if he would be interested in recording a mix for the WeAreBlahBlahBlah mix series. Three years on with a second album 'Half Of Where You Live' having just been announced we had a personal message from the Golden Panda himself, saying; "Hey just got this message. I havent checked this thing for 3 years. Seems like you're doing well! x". However unlike most bears this was not due to a prolonged need to hibernate, [...]
There's no negating electronic musics being at their best when they're powered by those most cerebral capacities of the human brain, just as there's no doubting the disparate genres thereof now approaching a point of absolute saturation. It's precisely why Daphni is preferable to Modeselektor, or why Pick a Piper pips Gold Panda in the stakes of immediate intrigue. And playing into that same richly academic school of thought, production value and so forth is Canterbury's Koloto , or rather Maria Sullivan to put a name to the otherwise isolated nom de plume. Sullivan tinkers with [...]

It’s Saturday, so that means it’s once again time for Shorthanded Goals. Shorthanded Goals is a feature that melds the best of both worlds. More artists wanting to catch your eyes and ears and hearts – whether they be free giveaways from albums I’ve already covered, or free tracks sent to me that I cannot dedicate the necessary time to listen to and review from bands/readers/whomever, or maybe even the usual PR and label goodies that arrive on the regular. Sometimes it’s album tracks or Soundcloud finds I [...]

Gold Panda 's new album 'Half Of Where You Live' will be released June 10th 2013 via NOTOWN/Ghostly Internationa. Stream their new song, "Brazil" below:
It's Friday, and we are, as ever, rounding up the best songs we've heard this week, which to be honest is a rather pleasant distraction from all the other fucked-up stuff going on in the world. This week we swooned (again) at new material from Savages, were intrigued by the return of Laurel Halo, enjoyed the new Daft Punk song (albeit perhaps not quite as much as everyone else), and elsewhere generally got down to new stuff by Com Truise, Gunslinger, Tempers... and Black Sabbath, whose new song actually isn't that bad at all. Who'd have thought it? Anyway, click [...]

For well over a year now electropop blog muse Charli XCX has been making the rounds, pervading blog posts and iPod party playlists. Yet despite all this, news of her debut album, True Romance was only announced mere months before its release. It’s actually quite surprising for someone who has generated such loud and lengthy buzz to avoid the amassing of the hype machine’s legions – don’t get me wrong, a Charli [...]

Amid the tragedies of the week, we looked to the pop culture tabloids for some lighthearted escapism and hope in avoidance of the 24-hour fear factory scare machines from the news media feed cycles. We heard will.i.am knocked off Mat Zo & Arty's Anjunabeats cut "Rebound" with "Let's Go", which of course had to rope in conflict magnet Chris Brown. And while King Krule's Archie Marshall may have canceled all shows for this month of April, he took the time to d...

London based producer GOLD PANDA is dreamy in every sense of the word. He is broody, mysterious and has a knack for being able to build beats that transcend you to neighbouring dimensions. Or in the case of his latest single.... just across the world to Brazil. Percussions that pulsate like a heaving mass on a hot day. Delicate chimes breeze throughout. Hazy synths linger thick in the air. It's minimal yet evocative. It's classic GOLD PANDA . Since his 2011 [...]

In conjunction with an announcement of a June release for his full-length follow up to Lucky Shiner , UK musician/producer Gold Panda released a stream of the first tune off the album entitled Half of Where You Live. The album's title apparently refers to the idea that the album is meant to capture the aural aesthetic of different cities visited while on tour, including Sao Paulo here. This song doesn't really stack up to the material on Lucky Shiner, but the idea is an intriguing [...]

Having released an EP called Trust earlier this year, UK electronic music maker Gold Panda released "Brazil," his first single off the forthcoming sophomore record Half of Where You Live. With the first new song from the album, you'll hear a layer of synths, instruments, and vocal loops that combined form a stellar new single. The UK producer's new album is set for a June 11th release date via Ghostly International and should feature 11 new tracks. Check out "Brazil" below. Fresh? [...]
